A full house for Mad Dog at the Music in the Park!
Even a power outage couldn’t stop the band from delivering a fantastic performance. Talk about dedication! A big thank you to the Fire Department for saving the day (and the music) with their generator!
We’re so lucky to live in Grand Forks, where Music in the Park, sponsored by the City, brings us free concerts every summer week — something for everyone to enjoy. Great music, great people, a little unexpected darkness… and somehow, the show went on!
Thank you to everyone who made these summer concerts so special! There is one more to go.

Hello, Bird Lovers!
I was standing near an electric pole with my camera when a Pileated Woodpecker flew over me, chased by a huge hawk. The hawk landed on the wire, and for the next 20 minutes, we watched each other.
When the Woodpecker finally flew away, the hawk moved to a nearby tree and started preening his beautiful feathers.
What an amazing moment! Life is great for bird photographers!

Hi everyone,
The 3rd Annual Jewel Lake Regatta took place this past weekend. It was great to see one big idea come to life in the Boundary Country. Jewel Lake is one of the best places for fishing, kayaking, camping, and sailing.
A big thank-you to Oliver Glaser for helping make it happen, and to the Jewel Lake Resort and all the volunteers.

Every year, we go to Nelson for a few days for a photoshoot.
This year, the smoke in the air created a completely different world.
When the sun came through, everything became bright and yellow, giving the landscape an almost surreal atmosphere.

Hello, bird lovers!
The Common Loon is very special to me. Every year, I spend time photographing these beautiful birds from my kayak. Loons are strong and very territorial birds and are protective of their young ones. Yesterday, I watched the parents watching over the chicks and feeding them about every 10 minutes. They seemed to have accepted me as I quietly photographed them from a short distance.
Life is truly wonderful for a bird photographer! ❤️📷

Hello, Bird Lovers!
Photographing Cedar Waxwings and a Kingbird in the same tree at the same time is always exciting for me. The parents were bringing a dragonfly every 10 minutes or so, and the juveniles would eat them quickly and easily.
The funniest moment happened when the much smaller Waxwing juvenile tried to steal the dragonfly from the young Kingbird. Unfortunately, I don’t know if he was successful or not, because they both fell to the bush!
Nature is full of unexpected and funny moments. 🐦🪰❤️

The McMillan, Seger, and Springsteen concert brought the house down with fantastic live music and unforgettable energy. A massive thank you to the organizers at the Historic GEM Theatre and Shaun Aquiline for putting together such a huge success. This amazing community celebration wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support from Discover Grand Forks, the City of Grand Forks, and RDKB Area D.
