It’s been a while since I’ve done some hiking, man did it feel good to go for a walk again this summer. Even with the on/off rain!

Nothing like those first fall days, where the rain is still around and the days are getting crisper. All you want to do is cosy up with a warm tea, and a good book!

Been a busy summer, with lots of adventures. Stopped at some nostalgic locations this last visit to BC. Including the ghost town at Three Valley Gap, which has the most incredible Round house you can explore.

Hey….you got any snacks? Got to go ‘behind the scenes’ at and visit with the giraffes today. Which was so much fun, and boy did I ever want to boop that nose. Giraffes don’t like to be touched actually, which I didn’t know. I think I’ve found my spirit animal 🦒

It was interesting to see how Stampede has changed over the last year. From ‘open for summer’ to ‘no restrictions’ it was a very different vibe this year. I’m usually there on opening day, and this year felt like it used to be. People were excited, having fun, enjoying all the random food, laughing and filling the rides. Even the BMO Centre was full of some really interesting and unique vendors again (instead of the usual boats and RVs it’s been in recent years). It was a nice change 🤠

Been a while since I visited Johnston Canyon. Between highway and campground renovations, the area being shut down for wolves one year and general pandemic closures it was so nice to be able to visit again this summer. Best part about staying in the campground, easy access to the hike up the canyon. The lower falls is pretty easy, getting up to the upper ones is definitely a little more steep. But so worth it, especially on a sunny day to see some rainbow rings 🌈🏔🏕

Found the perfect spot to hang this beautiful piece by in the house. Even more special that it’s a portrait of my Grandma (from one of my favourite pictures of her), which was part of The Grandmother’s Project. One of my most loved and favourite people in my life 🥰 She’s always been a part of my home, but now she has her very own spot where I can say ‘Hi’ every day.

Best part about warmer weather - after a day in the yard just enjoying the smell of fresh cut grass, the warmth of the afternoon sun and the sound of the birds chirping away. Of course and ice cold beer just to add that cherry on top 🍺

Did you know it’s World Bee Day? Bees are integral to our ecosystem and are also pretty dang cute (ever see a sleepy bumblebee butt hanging out of a flower?). At this time of year, flowers and other plants they use for food are not always in bloom yet, so keep those dandelions. It’s usually the bees first source of food in the spring. I look forward to the hum of honey bees in my crabapple trees every spring, and let me tell you it is loud! Plant a bucket of wildflowers this year, don’t chop all the dandelions, support a local beekeepers by purchasing their honey. Lots of ways to support the bees! Someday I hope to have a hive in a corner of the yard (dreaming of a someday), but for now the trees and flowers will do just fine 🐝🌻🍯
