"Maybe Next Year…" (Sound Familiar?) 😅

Every fall I hear the same thing:
🗣 “We meant to do photos last year…”
🗣 “We just got too busy…”
🗣 “We’ll do it next year for sure!”

But here’s the truth: time doesn’t slow down.
The kids grow. Seasons pass. And those little moments you swore you’d remember… start to blur.

This fall, let’s actually do it. Not perfect, not posed — just real, beautiful memories in the making. 🍂

“My teen hates having their photos taken.”

I hear you, mama!! And photographers kids might be worse for this than others! My oldest used to love being my model. But now, the camera comes out and she’s gone. When I do bring up annual photos or family photos, I’m greeted with eye rolls, sighs and “do I have to?”

Here’s what I can promise you - they might have a smirk, or serious face, or a too cool for the camera attitude, but there are e a few things I will do to help this along during our session:

-I will keep it casual - no formal poses here! Just chilled and relaxed for this age group.
-I will pass on the forced and awkward smiles. I will try to get them feeling a bit playful in the hopes to coax out a natural smile but won’t force anything
-yes, I can totally play their playlist during the session

There is something truly special in small tender moments between two people who love each other deeply.

I love being able to give couples a chance to reconnect with each other and being able to capture these moments in artwork for them.

Find a sitter for the kids, plan a photo session and then go out for an amazing date night. Cherish these special moments. They can be so hard to come by once the kids arrive!

It’s that time of year again when the beauty of Edmonton goes full display in golds, yellows, reds, and oranges! The kids go back to school, pumpkins become a main stay in our home decor and the leaves begin their yearly change. it’s absolutely gorgeous.

It is also my busiest time of year for photography. Book early! Spots are already starting to fill!

Fall always reminds me how quickly the seasons change—and how quickly our kids do too. 🍂

Today I sent my oldest off to her first day of junior high, and my heart is still catching up. How did we get here so fast? One minute it’s chubby cheeks and storybooks, the next it’s lockers and independence.

Just like Edmonton’s fall, these seasons of family life are breathtakingly beautiful, but they slip away far too quickly.
