From the Old Fort Point lookout in Jasper National Park, you can look down and see a lone yellow school bus driving along a quiet valley road. It passes right by a massive forest of burnt, bare trees and a muddy river flowing under a green metal bridge. Huge mountains rise up in the background, but their tops are completely hidden by thick, low clouds. Being up here makes you feel so small compared to the giant, wild landscape stretching out all around you.

Looking down from Old Fort Point, this view shows the incredible resilience of Jasper National Park after a wildfire. A winding road cuts through a landscape of sharp contrasts, where charred, bare tree trunks still stand tall against the sky. However, beneath this damaged forest canopy, a bright layer of new green growth is already aggressively reclaiming the valley floor. Fueled by nutrient-rich ash and fresh sunlight, this vibrant renewal next to the flowing river shows that nature is not just surviving the burn, but actively rebuilding itself.

Imagine standing on the edge of a massive, bowl-shaped canyon hidden deep inside a thick pine forest, where a giant river suddenly drops straight off a cliff. This is Helmcken Falls in British Columbia, and it is so incredibly tall that it could easily swallow a forty-story building. Over thousands of years, the rushing water slowly carved a spectacular, deep cavern out of old volcanic rock, leaving behind jagged stone walls that wrap around the waterfall like a natural theater.

As the water takes its huge plunge, it crashes into the shadowy depths below with a deep roar, throwing up a massive cloud of mist that looks like smoke rising from the trees. It feels less like looking at a regular viewpoint and more like discovering a secret, ancient world where nature is completely in charge.

Road tripping through Jasper National Park!

From the mirror reflections at Pyramid Lake to the clear waters of Annette and Edith Lakes, every stop is a postcard. Finishing the day driving down Highway 16 with the Canadian Rockies towering right in front of us. Jasper never clears your mind, it just fills it with wonder.

Just a casual roadside lunch date in Jasper National Park 🏔️🐻

There is nothing quite like driving through the Canadian Rockies and spotting one of these beautiful black bears peacefully grazing on the spring grass. This healthy local was completely unfazed by the passing cars, just living its best life in the heart of Alberta.
