Looking out from this spot, you can't help but feel completely at peace. The weather is changing fast, and you can feel a cool breeze starting to pick up across the meadow. Directly behind the lake, Mt. Standish towers over the landscape, its massive slopes half-shadowed by a giant passing cloud. The sky above is a brilliant mix of deep blue patches and exploding white clouds that look like they are bubbling up right over the peaks.

Down along the shoreline, the bright summer greens of the valley are just starting to blend with hints of autumn red and gold in the grass at your feet. It's one of those rare, perfect alpine moments where you just want to freeze time, snap the photo, and stare at the mountains for hours.

Standing behind the lens, you feel incredibly small as the gravel path underfoot gives way to a quiet, windswept alpine meadow. A massive, dark storm cloud rolls over the mountains, turning the sky an intense, bruised blue and swallowing the light. Walking along the stone path, you feel completely enveloped by the overwhelming burst of life and colour radiating from the gardens. Right at your feet, a massive, undulating wave of golden-orange marigolds sweeps across the landscape like a river of pure sunshine, bordered by a rich ribbon of deep magenta blossoms. The sheer intensity of the colours feels almost theatrical, contrasting beautifully with the manicured green lawns and the towering wall of dense forest that rises in the background.

I'm walking down a narrow wooden boardwalk that goes right through this cool little floating village. The houses on both sides are painted in all sorts of bright colours—there's a big yellow one right next to me, a bright blue one further down, and some with natural wood siding. Everything looks incredibly bright and sunny today. There are flower pots filled with bright pink and red flowers sitting out on the decks, which makes the whole place feel really lively. The sky above is a beautiful clear blue with soft, fluffy white clouds rolling by. It feels amazing out here, with the fresh sea air and the gentle way the houses float right on top of the water.
