Shamrock Horse Shows held their Fall 'Get Down and Derby' event this past weekend at Riverfront Equestrian Centre. Kathleen Schirmaier has been hosting the series for as long as I can remember, and though it's changed and adapted over the years it still remains one of the longest standing show series for folks looking for a welcoming and grassroots show experience just west of Edmonton.
Kathleen welcomed the Pony Pals Camera Club crew to the Derby, which also had Sonja Wicentowich capturing many of the rounds from start to finish! Though I was only there for a few hours, I had a lovely time seeing riders from 6 to 60 training and testing their skills. I was able to gift Kathleen a little thank-you in the form of a little notebook and a custom coach ribbon (which she immediately thought was intended for someone else!).
Showing is expensive. Running Shows is expensive. Thank you Kathleen and Shamrock Horse Shows for keeping the luck going for Alberta young riders and horses! 🍀
