(English follow) J'en ai vu beaucoup cet été, mais c'est la première fois que je prends le temps d'en photographier un ! Ils étaient plusieurs perchés à quelques pieds de distance sur le fil, alors je soupçonne une petite famille.

Le temps de prendre la photo et le lunch était déjà disparu ! 😅

I've seen quite a few of them this summer, but this is the first time I've taken the time to photograph one! There were several of them perched a few feet apart on the wire, so I suspect a little family.

In the blink of an eye, lunch was already gone! 😅

(English follow) J'étais en train de lire tranquillement et ma caméra était posée sur la table de camping quand j'ai entendu un « knock knock » caractéristique. Je savais que c'était un pic, mais quelle chance : ils étaient deux !

Comme j'avais de la difficulté à garder les deux bien nets en photo, j'ai basculé en vidéo... pour réaliser qu'il s'agissait d'une maman en train de nourrir son petit, alors que je pensais au départ voir un couple ! Quel privilège offert par Dame Nature 🥰

I was quietly reading with my camera resting on the picnic table when I heard a familiar "knock knock." I knew it was a woodpecker, but to my luck, there were two of them!

Since I was struggling to get both of them in focus for a photo, I switched to video... only to realize it was a mother feeding her chick, rather than a pair like I first thought! What a special privilege from Mother Nature 🥰

Le temps de 2 photos et il était disparu dans les hautes herbes, je voyais bouger les herbes et ils se sont allés dans les bois. La photo n'est pas super nette, mais la lumière était très basse et j'ai forcé les composantes parce que je trouve ce petit bambi trop cute.

When people tell me "You must be so patient"... not really, I'm just quick! 😁😁
Two photos later, this little guy vanished into the tall grass. I could see the blades moving as they disappeared deeper into the woods. The light was very low and it isn't super sharp, but I pushed my camera settings to the limit because I just found this little Bambi way too cute to pass up!

Comment ne pas sourire à la vue de cette petite boule de poils ?

Quand j'ai le privilège d'en rencontrer un, je me dépêche de le prendre en photo car je les trouve tellement adorables. Après l'avoir vu traverser le chemin à la course, je me suis assise à l'avant de mon auto et j'ai simplement attendu qu'il repointe le bout de son nez... Et l'attente en valait vraiment la peine !

How can you not smile when you see this tiny furball?

Whenever I have the privilege of spotting one, I hurry to get a picture because I find them so adorable. After watching him dart across the road, I sat down in front of my car and just waited for him to come back out... And the wait was completely worth it!

Même un seul déchet, c'est encore un de trop.
Ce week-end au bord du lac, en voyant ces emballages traîner, je me disais que l'objectif de ce rendez-vous n'est pas de tout changer du jour au lendemain. Si cette série permet d'éviter une seule bouteille jetée ou un seul papier au sol, la mission est accomplie.

Prenez un instant pour réfléchir avant de jeter. Nos gestes protègent des vies.

Even a single piece of litter is one too many.

Walking by the lake this weekend, seeing trash left behind, reminded me why we do this. If this weekly reminder stops just one plastic wrapper or bottle from being tossed, it’s all worth it.

Think before you throw. Our choices protect lives.

Un ébrancheur né ! Mettez le son 🔊
(English follow) En roulant sur un chemin étroit, j'ai croisé une dame avec un beau sourire, nos fenêtres étant baissées. Juste au-dessus de la voiture, j'ai aperçu du noir bouger dans les arbres.

Je crois que le passage du véhicule a un peu surpris la petite famille, car mes yeux l'ont vu rendu presqu'en haut et il a regardé en bas une toute petite seconde... et je crois bien que maman lui a dit : « Descends immédiatement ! » Écoutez le son des branches sur la descente😅

La maman et ses deux petits se sont ensuite rapidement enfoncés dans la forêt (Très bon comportement anti-humain) . Je suis contente d'avoir pensé de basculer en vidéo.

Je pense que la madame n'a jamais vu la famille d'ours :)

While driving along a narrow road, I passed a lady with a big smile, both our windows rolled down. Right above the car, I noticed something black moving in the trees.

I think the passing vehicle startled the little family a bit—by the time I spotted the cub, he was already near the top! He looked down for a split second, and I'm pretty sure mom said: "Get down here right now!" Listen to the sound of the branches on his way down! 😅

Mom and her two cubs then quickly headed deeper into the forest (great anti-human behavior). I'm so glad I thought to switch to video!

I don't think the lady ever even saw the bear family :)

Balbuzard pêcheur / Osprey
(English follow) Dimanche dernier, grâce à une portion de route élevée, je me suis retrouvée pile à la hauteur de ce balbuzard. C’était une sensation vraiment particulière d'être les yeux dans les yeux avec lui, alors qu'ils sont habituellement si haut perchés !

La route étant très passante, impossible de m'arrêter. J'ai juste baissé la vitre conducteur, ralenti un court instant et pris quelques clichés rapides en croisant très fort les doigts... Et la magie a opéré !

Comme quoi, les rencontres les plus mémorables sont parfois celles qu'on attrape au vol.

Last Sunday, thanks to an elevated stretch of road, I found myself right at eye level with this Osprey. It felt so surreal to be on the same level with him, since they’re usually perched way up high!

Traffic was busy, so stopping wasn't an option. I just rolled down the driver’s window, slowed down for a quick second, and snapped a few shots while crossing my fingers... and the magic happened!

Sometimes the best encounters are the ones you capture on the fly. 💚

Ce samedi, assise près d'un lac, mon regard a croisé un fil de pêche abandonné sur une table. Un tout petit geste : je l'ai ramassé et jeté.

En repartant, je me suis dit qu'un oiseau ou un écureuil venait peut-être d'éviter le pire. Chaque petit geste compte. Protégeons-les de nos négligences !

This Saturday, sitting by a lake, I spotted a piece of abandoned fishing line on a table. A simple act: I picked it up and threw it away.

Walking away, I realized a bird or a squirrel might have just been saved from a deadly trap. Every small action matters. Let's protect them!
