Introducing an image 11 years in the making. I first captured the images that made up this photo back in 2011 when I rented a campervan and fully explored the North and South Island of New Zealand for an entire month. I bracketed 3 exposures for this scene and thought I was ok, but upon returning home, discovered that even the dark images had blown out parts of the waterfall. At the time, I couldn't process the image well enough to be completely satisfied with it, so the images sat on my hard drive until this past week. Now, taking the 3 images into Adobe Lightroom and making an HDR from the files, I was able to tone down the highlights in the falls enough that they are no longer blown out! The tech only keeps getting better and better, and I can finally say I am pleased with this result.

Matai Falls resides in the Catlins Coastal Area near Invercargill in the Otago region of South Island, New Zealand. These 10m high falls were created when gathering rock for the foundations of the railway. The waterfall is surrounded by gorgeous moss and overhanging trees, and is a short 40 min round trip walk from the carpark.

Alexander Otto, from German melodic death metal band Words of Farewell, was the lucky winner of a 12x18" Fine Art Paper Print of this image when I picked his winning entry into a "name this photo" contest I held a while back. It was incredibly inspiring to see how people came up with different names for this photo, and how it made them feel. It's exactly what I hope happens when someone looks at a piece of my work.

Karekare is a small coastal settlement in the Auckland Region of northern New Zealand, sandwiched between the Waitakere Ranges and a large black sand surf beach. It is located 35 kilometres west of Auckland city centre, south of the larger beach of Piha. I'm a little disappinted I never got to check out Waitakere waterfall or Karekare falls, as it's a short walk from the road. Next time.

While wandering the beach, I found these two shells that had washed up on the beach, just waiting for something to be done with them. I knew right away that I wanted to process this in black and white, and the shells would contrast well with the “island” so I snapped a few photos. This was the one I liked the most. I love how there is so much contrast in the image. The two white shells vs the black sand, or the two white shells vs the one black island. It's perfectly in harmony. I like to think this image gives you a sense of peace as you enjoy it. May you all find your second wanderer in life.

I made my first ever trip to Moraine Lake in the fall of 2016. I arrived during the night and was able to photograph stars over Moraine Lake and the Wenkchemna Peaks, as well as some aurora activity in the opposite direction. I had to make the decision to get a few hours of sleep in my car as it was after 2am, and I was completely exhausted. Waking up just before 6am, I couldn't believe how many people were already there trying to get a spot for sunrise considering it was a weekday. I was able to secure a spot kind of tucked in behind a rock pile, and luckily no one was in front of my cameras view. After a somewhat disappointing sunrise, with only a little colour, I spent some time exploring the shore around the lake. There are so many spots along the shore for beautiful reflections such as this one. My next trip I plan to return to capture a little more fall colours with hopefully a fresh sprinkle of snow!

10% of this sale will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

10% of all sales will be reserved to support other artists work.

The Archway Islands along the Wharariki Beach includes some of the most spectacular scenery I've ever seen in my life. The beach, the islands, the sand dunes, and just the general vibe of the place is something else, as there isn't too much development in the area.

There are also some spectacular rock formations and caves along side the beach as well. I remember walking along and entering different caves in awe. I was a little shocked when I started walking into one and noted a Sea Lion laying there, appearing to be asleep.

Well, as soon as I entered the cave he brought his head up real high and I in turn, high tailed it out of there! They say to never get in between a Seal Lion and the sea, and I definitely didn't feel like being attacked!

Man, what a night Sept 27th 2017 was! We had super active aurora to the north, pulsing aurora to the south, crazy coronas overhead and I was able to capture it all in stills, time-lapse and real time video. Absolutely incredible night shared with a good friend. At one point I just lay on the dock and let the camera do its thing while taking it all in.

"Rundle Mountain"

This is the second 1/1 Photography NFT out of 5 that will help support (https://opensea.io/collection/mike-isaak-collection)

A classic view of Rundle Mountain. One of the most popular places to shoot in the Canadian Rockies, and sometimes the most spectacular as well. Photo taken from Vermilion Lakes near the town of Banff, Alberta. Hot springs keep parts of Vermilion Lakes ice free even when it is -20 outside.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time!

Time for what you say?! Time to release my very first 1/1 Photography !

After absorbing all the info I could in the last few weeks, I finally feel comfortable in the knowledge I've gleaned to make this first big step into the space.

The Image:
"Into the Blue"

Ambient temps helped form these ice crystals know as "Frost Flowers" along the edge of the ice. It was approx -20C while shooting here, making for very chilly fingers shooting so low to the water.
