Throwback to this moment I think about a lot… An outrageous two month slump came to an end on a tough, cold-front trip to Lake of the Woods with my boy Jaime Zapatero Camino

You can feel the relief hitting my body and voice in the footage. It’s insane.

The Suick Lure Company thriller always has been my confidence bait when I need to get a bite regardless of conditions and it helped me bust this slump.

Jaime and I need to get back to woods to get some revenge.

One of the coolest muskies I’ve ever caught because of the circumstances… Shoepack lake is in the heart of Voyageur’s national park. Not only is this strain of musky hard to get to, but they are incredibly acrobatic, which makes the whole catch process from a canoe that much more interesting!

MN musky opener is just a few days away, so throwback to the highlight of MN musky opener last year. With the complete lack of sleep over that weekend I thought that I had hallucinated this event but the camera never lies.

I’m sure the ole boy got an ear full. Follow the buoys and be safe out there y’all. More importantly have a ton of fun this weekend and make some great memories with friends!

On the board for the 2026 season after the first outing of the year. Spent the weekend truck sleeping to explore some new waters and begin documenting a cool new series for this year.

Fish are very clearly (and recently) post spawn despite the superficial surface water temps (~70’s) as the males were still packed into the spawn bays and the bigger females were nowhere to be found in the shallows.

We need some wind and rain to stabilize the water temps throughout the column and then the bite should get better going forward.

Betcha can’t guess which lure tricked this one.
