Frank Wall Photography Vancouver Island Photography. Nature, People, Events. A place to share some favorite photos of my own and other photography related links.

I was raised on the East Coast of Canada where my family spent much of our leisure time exploring the forests, rivers, beaches and small communities of New Brunswick, P.E.I and Nova Scotia. Since moving to the West Coast in the late eighties, I’ve been in awe of the wealth of natural beauty available here. Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and Haida Gwaii have now become my home and muse. For me,

the most compelling photographs are those which relay an emotional experience. I was given my first camera at age ten and soon became obsessed with the desire to share the world as I saw it. Realizing early on that the images created by my little Kodak rarely captured the way I felt at the moment the photo was taken, I began to learn the art of infusing emotion in to the photographic process. As well as landscapes, I enjoy capturing candid moments in the lives of people working and playing in community. I prefer to shoot using only available light, leaving people, places and things un-posed and as found. Though photography has always been a hobby, It’s only in the past few years that I’ve decided to devote more of my time to learning the finer techniques and taking my craft more seriously as an artist.
