When requested a brand photo collection that included action shots I was already stoked. When they told me we were going to do it with Salt Spring mussels, I knew we were all just going to have a really good day.

These photos tell the story of Chef Jake's classy and deceptively simple approach to the abundance of delicious local ingredients available to him. He made this look so easy (you should have seen the effortless, one-handed pan toss live. Not a spoon in sight) and really let the mussels shine.

The whole menu is killer and features so many local growers and producers, and on top of that, they host drag shows!

What more could a small-town q***r ask for?

En route to my original home today (first time flying in almost three years 😳) so here is a recent photo from one of the better corners of our bus home. It features the recent addition of antique copper measuring cups, something Kaleb has been hunting for since before we met.

Even in a bus, the kitchen is the most welcoming room in the house.

Egg production is ramping up, and as the only one here who eats eggs with any regularity I’m struggling a bit to keep up. I eat them for breakfast, and have gotten pretty good at variations on shakshuka for dinner, but I need more options.

Send me your favourite eggs-for-dinner recipes? Or stove-top baked goods? (Still sans oven over here) And if you’re nearby and and need some eggs, you know which neighbour to call on 🥚🐓🍳🐓!

It’s the first day of spring and we are out here, hands in the dirt, getting ready for the season! Today we get to look at the spot that will become Fern the Bus’s new home and talk to new landmates about seeds and garden plans. Obviously I am so pleased I might die.
