I have to admit… I’m a little sad that I’m not doing Christmas minis this year. 🥹🎄

For so many years, Christmas minis completely took over a few months of my life. Dreaming up the sets, planning, sourcing all the little details, marketing, setting everything up… and then spending November and December photographing family after family.

And I loved it.

I loved seeing everyone walk through the door dressed in their Christmas best or matching Christmas PJs. I loved the excitement from the kids, the chaos, the laughter, and getting to be a tiny part of so many families’ Christmas traditions year after year.

Christmas has always been my favourite, and somehow these sessions became part of Christmas for me too.

So knowing I won’t be doing any of it this year feels… weird. A little quieter. A little bittersweet.

It really does feel like the end of an era. 🎄🤎

No big reason for sharing this today… I think I’m just feeling nostalgic and realizing how much I’m going to miss this little piece of my life.

It’s the last day of August and what the heck?!!

I remember waking up August 1 and wondering how I was going to get through it. Now I’m wondering where that month went.

August is always one of my craziest months.

I had 3 weddings, one of them being my cousins, which was so special!
I had 6 beach sessions, 20 family sessions and 3 engagement sessions.
I got through it 🙌🏻

Busy summer season is officially done. Forever.
Now I’m heading into the next season…fall family sessions and fall weddings, which is even more busy 🙈haha.

Who else is soooo excited for the brrr months!! Don’t kill me but I can’t wait for the first snowfall.
Yup I said it! If you know me well, you know I love winter.

Happy last day of August! I have a candle lit, I just had Shepard’s pie for lunch and I’m going to edit the rest of the day!

A final chapter of nursing.

Because motherhood is made up of so many firsts… but no one prepares you for all the lasts.

The river.
Her baby in her arms.
The stillness.
The connection.

The end of one beautiful chapter… and the quiet beginning of another. 🤎

Earlier in the day, I walked past this little bistro set tucked away in the garden and immediately saw the photograph in my head.

I knew I needed to come back when the sun was setting and the light was a little more magical..

That’s the thing about being a photographer… we’re always looking.

Looking for the light.
Looking for the quiet little corners everyone else walks past.
Looking at ordinary places and imagining what they could become.

We chase light, we chase feeling, and we’re forever searching for the spot.

And sometimes, the spot is just a tiny bistro table beneath the trees… waiting for sunset and two people in love. 🤎

I think that’s one of my favourite parts of photography, seeing the photograph before it ever exists.

The sweetest rainy May wedding.

Just two hours together at the Holstein Dam, and somehow it felt like we captured a lifetime of love. The soft rain, the quiet moments, and the way they looked at each other made the whole afternoon feel like something out of a dream.

Some weddings don’t need sunshine to create pure magic.

One of the many stories I’ll never forget having the privilege to tell.
