Big changes.

The quick read: we are taking a year away from photography starting in October (other than already booked clients).
The full story: we are taking a year away from photography, likely more, starting in October. All booked clients will still get everything promised even after October, no panic needed.
I have taken a full time position with my library job and it’s impossible (for me) to do both well.
We have loved capturing memories and sharing in the joys of weddings, families, pregnancies and more these past five years and this has been a hard decision. As we move forward we are looking to grow into an average life and see our kids more. Average for us isn’t settling it is finding a pace that allows us to see the beauty among the ordinary moments and spend time with our kids. As you can see they are bigger and older and have missed summer moments with us. We have worked hard and loved big to make our photography what it has become, but it hasn’t been without our beautiful clients. There have been so many of you and we have been so honoured to do some big life moments with you!
Our Instagram will be up and email functioning, so don’t be a stranger (unless you truly are a stranger).

This handsome fellow has a birthday today!
Happy 36th Birthday Russ. Thanks for capturing all of the groom and groomsmen getting ready photos, doing all of the post-wedding late night driving and physically catching the occasional mother of the bride mid-pass out (okay just one time). You are so patient and fun with all of the hilarious drunk groomsmen that are your mid-party best buds. You laugh even when I’m stressed and cover up forgetting people’s names in the most comical ways. Thanks for being the flash and low light guru between us, I’d be so flustered without you!

Preparing for a baby is like planning to move to a whole new country. You can read every blog, buy the things, get rid of others, ask for advice, save money, but in the end you don’t really know until you are there. It’s a beautiful and terrifying journey.
As Enid and Jesse close in on their due date I can’t help but imagine this little guy is going to have a life of fun. Plus loads of adventures with the sweet dogs, multitude of aunts and might just maybe “smile” like Dad.

Hey lovely followers and clients! We will be ultra-quiet through the rest of March. All of our 2023 wedding clients know the deal, thanks for getting ahead with us! ✌️

I (Jen) am having surgery.

After four years, at least 7 MRIs and a pandemic the watch and wait stage with my brain tumour is almost over. Tuesday is the end of this journey and the beginning of another. A 3-4 hour surgery followed by 3-5 days in hospital, then a quiet recovery at home. Thanks to everyone who has been on this journey with us and to everyone who is making surgery and recovery possible. It takes a village and we are thankful for ours… though asking for help has been difficult, we are covered.
I am very optimistic about surgery and recovery.
Thanks for your care, prayers and thoughts. See you all on the flip side in April.

When I ask a kiddo to walk towards me for a photo and they stop right at the lens I try to snag a blurry face close up. Sometimes they run away before I catch it. I laugh every time.
Sometimes I try and snag a creative shot of the chaotic in between moments.
Both feel like an artistic version of this moment in each family’s life. The way a parent sees their kid regularly - a blurry, close up face, chatting too fast or complaining about something. The way a parent feels as they gaze past the chaos of their kids horsing around for the millionth time that day trying to find something motionless to remember.
You may or may not find random snaps like this in your family galleries, and this is why. Enjoy.

This fall family session was a birthday gift for Grandma! It was the last day of fall weather and the wind was icy. Each person was such a trooper and made the best of the cold to give Grandma some good memories.
Can I just say that some of the “imperfections” are what make the photos so loveable? The crooked kid grin, the wind blown hair, the stick I had to convince her was “magic” so she would stay, the goofy Grandpa face. It all adds up to the story of each person individually and the family as a whole. It makes the snapshot in time a hearty and more tangible memory of the moment in time.
The Malyk family are such a lively bunch and I loved the joy they put into this moment together.

Warm sun, the sound of the river flowing by and doggy paw prints. This night with Nick and Carly was so fun. They are so sweet with each other - he smirks at her and she laughs. They tease each other, adore their sweet doggo, and have a hilarious/endearing engagement story. They are somewhat opposites in careers: she is a hairdresser ( ) and he is an oilfield nature guy (sorry Nick I forget the actual term 🥴) yet have the same gentle soul with an edge. We like them and can’t wait to capture their day in 2023. I will absolutely be hiding behind the camera to hide my tears while taking the photos! 🖤
