Jing’an Temple, a famous ancient Buddhist temple in Jiangnan, is one of the earliest Buddhist temples in the Shanghai. It was first built in the tenth year of the Sun Quan Emperor of the Three Kingdoms (247 AD) and has a history of more than 1770 years. In the first year of the Song Dynasty’s Xiangfu period (1008 AD), it was renamed Jing’an Temple. In the ninth year of the Southern Song Dynasty’s Jiading period (1216 AD), it was relocated to its current location and has since been repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. In 1998, it underwent large-scale reconstruction, and the ancient temple has now become more magnificent, grand, and harmonious, presenting itself as a holy site of Buddhist culture.
