Recently while visiting a Canadian national park, I was approached by a raven that appeared to be looking for a handout. Of course I would never feed wildlife, and as I turned to walk away, the raven proceeded to follow me like a lost puppy.

Feeding wildlife will eventually lead to their inability or desire to locate food on their own, and the reliance on humans can result in their death due to no handouts in the off seasons, or worse, eating something that is harmful to them.

While waiting to photograph pika later that day, the raven landed close for a visit presenting a fantastic photo opportunity. This does however show the loss of fear of humans, created by the connections of humans and food. The evidence is smeared right on its beak.

Do your part and help keep wildlife wild!
