One of two Mule Deer fawns that decided to check out our campsite this morning during breakfast. This was the wildlife highlight from an otherwise quiet weekend. The wildfire smoke seems to be having an adverse effect on the local wildlife.

I was busy photographing a flock of Cedar Waxwings and this tiny little Song Sparrow decided to drop in and show me how great of a hunter it was. I don't think it could have stuffed any more insects in it's beak.

I had the pleasure of photographing a flock of Cedar Waxwings at a local pond and this has given me the opportunity to help my wife venture into her photography journey and watch her grow as her skills improve. Here are a few of my favorites from the last couple of days.

Here are a couple of images for you to reflect on from my early morning outing the other day. The patience and ability to remain motionless that these birds have is insane, but this is what make them such efficient hunters.

Now what do you think is going on here?

A young grizzly cub is onto the scent of something on the side of this burnt tree. Grizzly bears have one of the most powerful senses of smell in the animal kingdom. Their olfactory system is estimated to be up to 2,100 times more sensitive than a human's and seven times better than a bloodhound's. They can detect scents, such as carcasses or attractants, from up to 20 miles away.
