Annnnnnnd that's a wrap! The studio is packed away, my last shoot was 5 short days ago, my final gallery went out yesterday, final orders are being placed in the next 2 days, and hard drives are being re-located to ensure that everyone's files are safely stored while we're on the road. 2025 was one WILD ride, but we've made it to the end.

I hope that you're each ensconced in that cosy haze that comes from being between Christmas and New Year's Eve. May 2026 bring adventure, growth and time with your loved ones.

Many have asked how to follow our adventures and the answer is via Instagram () or via the blog (desktop/tablet only for now): https://momentusstudio.com/blog/. I'm looking forward to having a chance to slow down and reconnect with writing again as I reflect on our experiences - it's been a loooong while!

Welcoming a new baby is such an exciting time - unless you're Ellie.

I've photographed plenty of dogs, many of whom have been comically expressive and intent on being in photos with their families. Ellie, however, probably takes the cake for most human-like personality of any dog I've known over the years. She leaves absolutely no room for doubt about what she's thinking. 😂

The scramble to tie up all loose ends before our departure on New Year's Eve is REAL, but when you have faces like these to keep you company, it's pretty hard to complain...

Katie and Jason's gallery was giving me the biggest Sunday morning smiles before I head off for today's sessions. 6 more sessions to go to close out 2025!

I've been thinking lately about the multitude of ways we feel and experience joy at weddings. Sometimes it's unexpected, sometimes it's a little bit predictable, and sometimes it brings on outright guffaws of laughter that trigger ripples of joy through an entire crowd. Conveniently, I was ruminating on all of this while culling weddings, so I got to dig into my thoughts. Here's a collection of joy from Emily & Cameron's day - ours (hello, boutonnieres and... muppets as "Easter eggs"?!), theirs, and their people's.

Soft moments in beautiful light might be my favourite combo amidst the tumult of a wedding day because they offer up a chance for everyone to breathe, re-centre, and connect.

I have some big news to share....

Earlier this year, Rich and I took a moment to re-evaluate and we had some realisations that hit a little harder than maybe we anticipated. We made the decision that it's time to pack our bags again and hit the road, so it's with both excitement and trepidation that I'm announcing Moment.us will be closed as of Dec 20, 2025 until January 2027.

This is going to be, without a doubt, the most ambitious adventure of any that we've embarked upon, so I hope that you'll follow the ups and downs (some literal, some less so) of our life on the road via Insta when it's time ( with occasional updates here and on Moment.us's IG stories). I'm also expecting that this will be the perfect opportunity to reconnect with my love of writing, so hope to post updates via my website (and maybe even get the mobile version working again???).

To clients who are hoping to secure a spot for fall: please reach out ASAP. I would love to see you before I go, but have *extremely* limited dates and turnaround times will be much longer than even the most recent timelines, so sessions will be reserved for the most patient among you. 😉 Your support over 14 years has been tremendous. I'm grateful this will only be "bye for now."

Now back to wedding editing! Sneak peeks to come!

Groomsmen can make or break a wedding day for us. We meet them first, so they set the tone for the rest of the day, and we rely on them for their energy, kindness, and humour as a wedding day progresses.

By the time their ties are tied, Kris and I already have a pretty good read of the room: we know who to watch out for (it happens🤷‍♀️), who to count on if we need help, and who to watch during speeches when we want to see some tears - and sometimes we place bets on who's going to be the biggest spectacle on the dance floor at the end of the night. 😉

Alfonso's guys helped us start our day with laughter and we knew we were onto a good thing with this crew.

Soph: I got this.

And so, "Sophie Takes Flight: A Visual Ode to Splashes" was born.

Time with the Coughlins has always held a special place on my calendar. Time with their extended crew will now *also* hold a special place on my calendar because these are some of the best kind of people - and don't even get me started on their rock star Nanny... ❤ I spent a wonderful couple of hours with this gang knocking out a pile of portraits and then quietly documenting not-so-quiet life around the pool on a sweltering summer afternoon, and I can't imagine a better place to have spent my time.

It's always a joy to spend an evening at LouLou Lavender, listening to the hum of the bees as the sun drops lower on the treeline. Add to that scene two people as joyful, genuine and enthusiastic as Cam and Emily (and Kris, obvi 😉 ), though, and it gets even better. A month to go until their big day and we already know it's going to be a good one.

One of the best things I did last year was push myself out of my comfort zone and take on an associate contract for someone else's brand. (Associate shooting happens when you act as the primary photographer for someone else's brand without editing responsibilities and became common the first full wedding season after COVID, when postponements were happening alongside regularly-planned weddings and photographers found themselves caught out because of double bookings.) Kat and I met because of an online mentorship with Lanny & Erika Mann, but we kept in touch on socials. Our philosophies align and she reached out to see if I'd take on a wedding for her and her husband's brand, TKM Photography, so after a lot of reassuring that I was the right fit and deciding that I could confidently rep them that day, I decided to go for it - and what a day it was!

Sarah & Pete were a perfect fit - relaxed, honest, connected, and happy to let me just do what felt right. Along with shooting in a completely new part of the province, it was a day full of firsts:
-first time I've seen anyone take pliers to a wedding dress
-first time I've seen someone use whiskey cubes for post-portrait cooling
-first time photographing a (surprise) life-sized Taylor Swift cutout
-first time I've worked in cahoots with the DJ in the hopes that someone on the dance floor might get naked

I spent way too much time doubled over with laughter and didn't regret a second of it. The icing on the cake was seeing so many of my favourite moments delivered in black and white, just as I would've if they were my own. ❤

Oh hey! Still here! 😉

This week, for a multitude of reasons, I'm thinking about the importance of the energy we bring to any gathering, but particularly about the value of bringing new energy to familiar spaces and places - about going somewhere you've been before and giving yourself the freedom to see it with new eyes.

For me, St Raphael's is one of those spaces: the building is a giant gray slab in the middle of nowhere and the description isn't all that interesting apart from the "ruins" aspect (it's gray, there isn't much in the way of greenery, it's very angular and unadorned). But if you put me there at the right time of day with the right kind of people, something magical happens.

Let me tell you: Fré & Alfonso were definitely the right kind of people. We laughed our way through our time together, mostly because I was so excited to be working with them that I could've cartwheeled (well, if it wouldn't have resulted in smashed cameras). Thankfully, they responded to my giddiness with both humour and grace and we all headed off on country roads knowing something special had just happened.

Thanks to Melissa Makeup and The Loft Beauty Network for highlighting Fré's gorgeous features.
