Taken early summer but still a fantastic stop off when going to see Spahats . We entered half way along the parking lot and exited where the trail starts but there is no wrong or right way to enter. The trees are magnificent as is the creek with the upturned trees across it. The trail has informative boards . Bit of a waterfall theme going on !! Spahats Falls.

Head for a hike and we are lucky to be able to grab a rice bowl in town, hike all day and end with an ice-cream at Murra...

Head for a hike and we are lucky to be able to grab a rice bowl in town, hike all day and end with an ice-cream at Murray Mtn Ice Cream truck which was much appreciated as we hit 30 degrees !!

So we all travel the highway north from Barriere and marvel at the Baldy/Dunn Lake peaks but this time we saw them from the eastern side…out of Barriere , up South Lake Road and left in to Blomley (active) forestry road… best to do it on the weekends or you will meet a few logging trucks! Worth the drive to see the range.

Shadow Lake , Wells Gray. Garnet Mtn in the distance. On one side of the front of the lake, the baby toads are well formed and hopping everywhere. On the main section, there are just a mass of tadpoles. Be careful where you walk !!!

Going full on fauna today including a small white Lady’s Slipper , a rare orchid, amongst the lupins on the Valley Road....

Going full on fauna today including a small white Lady’s Slipper , a rare orchid, amongst the lupins on the Valley Road. With thanks to Susan Murray for spotting the beautiful clump and Ellen Ferguson for the detailed description on how to find this rare plant. If you happen to come across it, there are numerous smaller sections of this plant so be careful not to tramp on them.
