Tucked into the lush wilderness of Strathcona Provincial Park, Lupin Falls is one of those hidden gems you can’t skip out on.

Just a short 1.4-kilometer loop, this trail contains a dreamy cascade that drops about 30 metres down mossy rock into a peaceful pool. In the spring and early summer, the falls are especially powerful thanks to snowmelt, and you might even spot wild lupins blooming nearby—yep, that’s where it gets its name. 💜

Whether you’re on a roadie through Vancouver Island or heading deeper into the park, this stop reminds you just how magical BC really is.

After months of skies painted in every shade of grey, spring is slowly whispering its way in.

Cherry blossoms are beginning to flower—soft bursts of pink against branches that looked lifeless only weeks ago. The sun lingers a little longer each evening, warming our faces and our spirits.

It’s that quiet shift we wait all winter for. More light, more colour, and more reasons to step outside.

Meet the juvenile Great Blue Heron—tall, graceful, but still growing into those long legs and sleek feathers. 🪶

This young heron in training is nature’s model of patience and poise, and is already a skilled hunter that can impale their dinner with pinpoint precision.

You can spot these majestic birds hanging out anywhere from quiet ponds to salty coastal marshes, and if you see one along the Pacific Northwest coast, chances are it lives there year-round. 🌊

So obsessed with these two and the witchy, gothic, lord-of-the-rings-esque vibes that manifested all the way from the decor and wedding bands to the bride and groom’s attire. This easily takes the top 5 for one of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve had capturing a black bear on camera so far.

I had just reached an opening in the trail when I watched this big fella emerge from the forest, picking on leftover autumn berries, before he decided to hang out on a river rock in front of me. The way I screamed when he looked right into my lens (internally, of course 😂).

It’s always such a ride seeing these wild animals in their natural habitat. No matter how many I get to see, the appreciation and excitement doesn’t fade. I feel so lucky.
