Certified Safari Guide for South Africa with my Level I Field Guide from FGASA and a Level III tracks & signs holder, I am also a devout wildlife photographer. With the Rocky Mountains as my backdrop at home, and the call of the wild and roars of the big cats of Africa as my inspiration and driving force, thus Rock n Roars became my soul food. I know so many people look for not only companions to follow their dreams of safari, but also what really matters to a photographer. Having extensive experience staying a vast range of properties, I developed a unique itinerary that not only satisfies the hunger for the Big 5 iconic African experience, but also enables someone to check another apex predator off their bucket list without the need to travel to Asia. Big Cat conservation is of the upmost importance to me, and with Cheetah as my spirit animal, the opportunity to walk with them and photograph them on foot is just one more reason why this itinerary will have any cat lover and wildlife photographer doing backflips! If you want to experience big cats, iconic wildlife and endangered species, and do so without the massive uncharges - look no further. With only 1-2 trips like this per year, don't wait too long!

Announcement: World Photographic Cup–Team Canada is pleased to announce that an image by Jen Kucherawy, has made it past the first round of the 2027 WPC Team Canada selection process. Their image was chosen by at least one of our esteemed curators to move on to Round 2 for discussion. It takes courage to put your photography forward for a chance to represent Canada, and while there are many rounds involved in the selection process, having an image move on is the first step in the journey. FINALLY - I am reviewing my Africa trip images... it's only taken 3 months. I thought I would share a few feathered friends who were visited by beautiful light and captured with my new lens. I love the creamy backgrounds! Between the magic of the moment, the location (Zimanga) and the stellar subjects, I think they are true winners. The lagoon hide was epic this time around for Kingfishers, given us ample opportunities to capture diving and some interactions with each other. One of my absolute favourite spots to photograph at. Returning back in May/June next year with 2 spots - perfect for friends or solo travellers as both rooms are singles with no single supplement. More pics soon - I promise!!! Lion cubs on the way...

Photo Safari 2027! Only 2 spots left for this unique South Africa itinerary departing May 27-June 9, 2027. Rumor has it - it may be my last time offering this particular mix of reserves, so if photo hides and big cats are your cup of tea, this might be the trip for you. Here is a small snapshot of just a few of my memories from this years trip.

So where are we rock'n and roar'n next? Something tells me you will find me in the Sabi Sands vicinity. I will keep you posted!

New for 2027: Wild dogs are running loose at Zimanga. Let's wish them success in a reserve with 6 new lions (of cub size currently). Who knows what a year will bring. Meerkats at Kishindo will be gradually habituated over the next year to allow us closer perspectives (although a half hour of investment served us just fine this trip).
