I did the hardest thing I’ve had to and took a huge step back this year. It’s been a very overwhelming journey of becoming so burnt out and having to handle way to much that I could no longer find my way through. It dampened my creative spark and I felt like I was just producing the same thing over and over again. My illness flared and I was bed bound for months if not at work.

I wanted to come back and have familiarity, but begin pushing bounds and limits I had previously tried to stay inside.

Art is a creation of what we feel inside. It is an explosion of feelings and emotions. It is not all pretty smiles and “perfect” hair and obeying the artistic rules. Stale, over edited, over perfected work does not leave a lot of room for expression. It’s all a never ending journey, and I look forward to creating even better pieces with you all going forward.

I’m glad to be back, and thank you to everyone for allowing me grace and to step away.

Growing up I had a dream.

One dream.

To be happy at any cost.
I never understood the weight of those words back then or why I was always saying them.
I never imagined or understood how much I was crushed by depression, a survivor of abuse or how down the line I would become chronically ill. But it gave me even more to fight for.

You see it wasn’t just about being content anymore in a life I knew I wasn’t made for. Working corporate jobs just to pay the bills and do my photography on the side. It was about making real change in any way that I could.

Some of you might think Photography has been my why, but its all of you. Photography makes me happy but it is the mere tool in my hands that connects me with so many wonderful souls. It is the place where I have the honour of helping you create something to chase your own dreams, where I’ve seen tears shed by those who just needed someone to listen before getting back up to fight another day. It’s where I’ve heard countless times people having low self esteem only to see themselves shine vibrantly in photos and begin to see what we as witnesses do. It’s where family’s comes to make memories and at times say goodbye.

Photography is a job extremely intimate in nature, more often than not I’ve created deep connection and friendships with each person I’ve had in front of my camera. It has healed me to see all the good people in the world and given me a reason to keep getting back up.

To be a witness in your lives, is the honour of mine.

Let’s spill tea 🫖

This was a portfolio shoot where I had two models and an mua/hair stylist - except one of the models no showed and was never heard from again after I had worked with them multiple times before 😳

Last minute in the early hours I am trying to find a model to fill in while trying to make sure the no-show was ok. Things happen but it was a complete ghost. Luckily Trisha, our MUA & Stylist stepped in and modelled making the shoot possible.

So what did I do? I sent a few follow ups even days after as I wanted to ensure the person was ok and not in an accident.
I gave her grace because this had never happened before and she was communicating the evening before.
After a few months of not hearing from her, I simply unfollowed and moved on.
If she were to ever reach out again I’d likely give her another shot at working together.

Was it really stressful? Yes
Were there almost losses ($$) incurred because of the no show? Yes
Are we all human beings going through different things in our lives and who also make mistakes? Yes
