My Story

Hi there! Thank you for checking out my page. My name is Tamara, and I’m a portrait photographer who specializes in newborn photography. I obtained my photography certification through Mount Royal University in 2017. I specialize in portraits with newborns, babies, children of all ages, family photo sessions, photography of the fine arts. I also work with Preschools and Sporting groups for photography as well. You will find my portrait style sits different from the rest as I love to take what is considered an “ordinary” moment and turn it into a precious moment that has been captured for a lifetime.

Where it all began. I’m a born and raised Calgarian who is a happily married Mom to two beautiful daughters. When my second daughter was born, I started looking more and more into photography. In 2012, I took this one particular picture of my daughter and from there I realized I had a great potential for photography.

That same year, I purchased my first Nikon camera and let my creativity branch out from there. During the process, there have been many learning curves and challenges to overcome. Photography is a science all its own, yet it allows me to be creative in my work. Learning hands on is how I learn best and thanks to my friends and family I have been able to practice with their families, their babies and create a portfolio I can use professionally. Until 2016 I took the leap of faith and began my adventure at Mount Royal University where I studied various forms of photography, and obtained my certificate in December 2017.

I’ve been asked about what sets me apart from other photographers. I have to say it’s my imagination allows me to create the ideas for my sessions that you cannot find anywhere else. My styles are simple, yet elegant. I prefer images that start from something so basic, that can turn into something so beautiful. I also focus on the little details that the average eye tends overlook. To me photography is also more than that. It’s about capturing those precious moments in life that we treasure in our hearts. From that precious smile at a baby session to the magical moments that families share together to capturing a dancer on pointe in her moment of glory on stage. With my photography, I make sure all those moments are captured and saved in time.
