One of the best things you can have in marriage is the ability to laugh together. 💕

What started as a funny surprise for her niece when she picked her up from school in an inflatable costume turned into a yearly tradition and a collection of costumes.

Terri is truly the kindest human being and her friends say she lives to make people laugh.

So it didn’t surprise me when this idea came up when we were planning engagement photos for Terri and Scott.

🤔 Then the challenge - how on earth do I capture an inflatable costume when the theme isn’t a costume party but ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS!?!

We had so much fun wandering downtown Calgary for their photos. Strangers burst out in smiles and laughter and I think that made the session perfect.

I’ve learned my lesson. I’m so excited for photos after a wedding day that I can often skip this and head straight into the office to start importing, culling and editing. BUT….

Last year I had so much wrist, elbow and shoulder pain in my right arm I was beginning to face the possibility of needing to transition out of weddings and opt for shorter sessions only. ??

Basically, my body was overworked. Micro movements of my wrist and elbows holding cameras for hours and then moving a mouse at my computer for hours.

Feeling strong and healthy is THE BEST feeling (especially as I turn 36 soon!!). I love going into a wedding day knowing I can carry heavy bags of cameras and lighting, run up a hill for a great photo, squat all day and still come out feeling good.

And it’s so good for my mind and soul too.

I considered a few locations for J + M’s mountain engagement session. She had a vision for their photos and this location in Kananaskis fit exactly what she wanted.

We braved the rain and ended up with the most beautiful evening from golden hour to dusk.

I think the mountain reflection photos are my fav…

Mmm, it’s gotta be the lush green field with the mountain backdrop. We saw an elk in the field!!!

But I also love the sun-kissed photos…

They are all my favs. I love them all. Good luck choosing a background for your phones haha

💕Miss M burst into laughter! She smooshed paint onto her mom’s cheeks and I was smiling the whole time behind my camera.

It’s whimsical and colourful, playful and messy - all the things we want for our children (but don’t want to clean up in our own home haha) There is this beautiful spot in South Calgary where I create this photo set for your family and bring all the supplies including the canvas you get to take home as a keepsake.

Book this session with your kiddo!! I promise this will fill up your soul with so much love and joy - and you will get to cherish the memories through the photos forever.

Wedding photos from our wedding day in Calgary 12 years ago 🤍

We have so many memories from our wedding day but I have no doubt that I remember most of them because of the photos we have. Our hearts have been filled with so many new memories since then and although the highlights are easy to remember… the details fade.

I am so grateful for our wedding photos that have frozen moments of the people we love laughing, cheering, and sharing our wedding day with us. It keeps our wedding day alive in a way my memory can’t on its own. The emotions I see in these photos takes me back.

Cameras are truly a gift we should not take for granted in our lifetime and I am so honoured to be the photographer for so many couples getting married in Calgary and the stunning Rocky Mountains.
