Seven years ago, this tiny 9-pound whirling dervish came home and completely rearranged my life.

Since then he’s stolen my bed, my snacks, my personal space, and approximately seventy thousand kisses.

So naturally, he decided the best way to celebrate turning seven is by giving away dog photography sessions.

Welcome to Stanley’s Summer Solstice Giveaway.
☀️ One Grand Prize Winner
☀️ One Runner Up
☀️ Fifteen Birthday Bonus Winners

Because Alberta summers are short, dogs age far too fast, and “we’ll do it next year” has a nasty habit of becoming a regret.

Entries opened TODAY.

Drop the reason your dog deserves this below so Stanley can begin reviewing applications. He takes this responsibility very seriously.

(He does not.)

But he’d also like you to share this with your fellow Calgary dog lovers, cuz sharing is caring.

Thank you Holly Poffenroth and the Boxer Rescue Canada team for these baby pictures!

Stanley is turning seven this month, and he has decided the best way to celebrate is to give away dog photography sessions. Because he loves nothing more than spending his mom’s money on things that actually matter, like your memories with your dog.

Stanley’s Summer Solstice Giveaway opens June 10. All winners receive a complimentary Calgary photo session. One grand prize winner takes home a large piece of wall art, one runner-up wins a $500 artwork credit, and the first fifteen people to claim Stanley’s birthday gift each receive a $200 product credit.

Your dog, this summer, on your wall. Almost as quick as our Alberta summers calls it quits.

Entries open June 10. Close June 20. Winners announced June 26.

Hi, I’m Aubri your overly friendly dog loving Calgary pet photographer. 👋🏽

I made him pose for photos about 2 hours too long tonight. But it was wonderful sitting with the wind gently tossing blossoms atop our heads while the sun started ducking behind those beautiful fuchsia buds.

Calgary has many beautiful parks and it’s nice to discover quiet places to take your dog and just sit alone with the beauty of spring.

Unlike some of the popular spots with the passive aggressive people just doing it for the gram. (Well apparently this isn’t a great example as I also post a bunch of side eyed, whale eyed Stanley selfies).

It was the first snow fall, we had been walking along Nosehill park here in Calgary, on the second kilometer of five.

I felt a little nip on my bottom. What, the…? I look behind me and I just see a 12 pound puppy sitting and giving me these puppy dog eyes… “mom, I’m cold and smol and ready to be finished.” It might not have been the first time he figured out he was the boss, but it defines sticks out in my mind.

and so this guy deserves well the cheese… unabashedly begging for the cheddar. Reminding his aunty to pay the

In a world of AI everything… I’m editing less. 🤖

Back in the day, I used to rely on editing way more. Ironically, the more AI takes over, the more I’ve intentionally pulled back.

I used to shoot thinking I’ll fix things later.

Now I focus on getting it right in camera and using editing to refine, not reinvent.

Because the truth is…

Good photos aren’t made in Photoshop. They’re finished there.

Be honest… what did you think took longer, shooting or editing?

Hi, I’m Aubri and I’m a Calgary based dog photographer showing you the dog photography editing process with a before and after photo edit. Follow me for more pet photography tips and dopamine.

My photos of Stanley on my phone are exactly what everyone else gets. Same angles, same “almost had it,” same not quite in focus photographs.

And I get it, I am you. Stanley does something unhinged and suddenly I’m fighting with Siri like it’s personal.

But your dog isn’t hard to photograph. You’re just in the moment, not observing it.

That’s the whole job. To see what you miss while you’re busy loving them.

I wrote about this in my latest blog → Link in Bio

In the meantime, is anyone else’s phone doing aggressive character analysis of your face upon opening? Because same.

The wise words of can be placed into so many different contexts, I suppose that’s why she was such an icon in this world.

Let’s celebrate this Earth like it’s the only one we have, today and every day.

(I wonder what wisdoms or hard truths she’d have for us in the Punch the monkey era).

Happy Earth day friends, go out and do good in the world, pick up that piece of trash, be kind to our animals, appreciate the abundance of what we are blessed with.
