Friends, I have been hesitant to share this with you, but I have always tried to be transparent, and over the years many of you have become like family to me.

Late yesterday afternoon, my spouse was rushed to the hospital and is now in critical condition on life support. Never did I imagine something like this would happen.

I humbly ask for your prayers as we hope and pray for his recovery.

As I navigate this difficult time, I hope you will understand that my time on this page may be limited for a while.

Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers.

It has been a very emotional day for me. A very difficult day. We went to photograph the Great Gray Owl and baby this morning, and witnessed the mother get struck by a car. She was tossed into the ditch where she lay motionless, her body contorted. 😒 One of the witnesses bundled her up and took her for help, and I stayed behind and made it my mission to rescue her baby, it was too young to survive on its own. After looking for the baby for an hour, I finally found her hidden far back in the trees on private property. I located the landowner and got permission to rescue the owl, but she was too high up in the tree for me to climb. I decided to call a few arborists for help. Most wouldn’t assist me, but one wonderful guy did. I arranged for a wildlife rescue to accept her if we caught her, and after a long while, we did! πŸ™Œ So, our entire day was spent rescuing an owl. I sure didn’t have that on my bingo card. πŸ₯΄

πŸ“Œ Stay tuned for more updates.

The wait is over... and here is my big surprise!πŸ¦‰ πŸ’

For nearly 8 years, I've dreamed of seeing and photographing a baby Great Gray Owl. Yesterday, while photographing an adult owl, I heard a persistent screech coming from a nearby stand of trees. When I went to investigate, I was amazed to find this little owlet perched on a branch.

I couldn't believe my eyes! πŸ‘€

Some surprises are worth waiting years for, and this was definitely one of them. 🩢 πŸ™Œ πŸ‘

πŸ“ Location will not be shared.

Enjoy your evening! πŸŒ™

For several years, my cousin Kate, has been working on photographing the remaining grain elevators in Saskatchewan. She has spent countless hours researching locations and traveling the dusty backroads of her province, πŸš™ and has recently published a beautiful book β€œA Collection of Saskatchewan Grain Elevators”. Sadly, many of these sentinels have since been demolished, πŸ˜” but this book preserves the history of these beacons of the prairies. 🌾

I know that I have more than a few abandoned photography lovers who follow me, so I thought I’d share that this book is now available on Amazon! (Link to order below ⬇️ )

I’ve ordered mine already. πŸ™Œ With Father’s Day right around the corner, I think this book would make a great gift! 🎁

I wanted to check in and say hello to you all. How are you? What are you up to today?

I also want to mention that today has been a great photography day for me! I got to see and photograph *something* for the first time today, and I am still buzzing about it. πŸ™Œ

πŸ‘‰ My question to you is…would you like me to give you a hint about what this *something* is, or would you rather wait tomorrow to find out? Any guesses on what it could be? πŸ€”

The stare πŸ‘€ of a Great Gray Owl is hard to describeβ€”serious concentration, complete stillness, eyes locked on its target, 🎯 everything else fading into the background. 🫣

Pretty similar to my reaction when I see a chocolate bar. πŸ¦‰πŸ« 😜

Wishing you all a fabulous night. πŸŒ™

An American Pika, one of Alberta's cutest mountain residents, πŸ”οΈ caught carrying a little leaf πŸ‚ in its mouth. Pikas don't hibernate, so summer is spent gathering food for the long winter ahead. 🍽️

I'd say this little mountain gardener is doing a pretty darn good job! πŸ’ 🍁

πŸ‘‰ Have you ever seen a Pika before?

Kicking off this "Foxy Friday" 🦊 with the littlest Red Fox kit that I found this season. Although I am far from being a fox expert, considering this little one's fluffy fur and blue/ grey eyes, πŸ‘€ I would estimate this wee one to be about 5-8 weeks old. πŸ’

πŸ‘‰ Do you think this kit is as cute as I do?
