There’s something special about a little rain on your wedding day.
Your wedding day doesn’t have to have perfect weather to have beautiful photos. It’s the connection, the emotion, and the little moments you share that tell the story of your day. Sometimes, the moments you couldn’t plan for are what make your photos feel the most like you.
For generations, rain on a wedding day has been given all kinds of beautiful meanings. Some say a wet knot is harder to untie, while others see it as a blessing for a lifetime of love.
You may even hear that rain is a way of cleansing the past and preparing you for a fresh new chapter.
I think my favourite is the idea that it’s blessings from above. There’s something comforting about thinking of the rain that way, especially on a day that marks the beginning of something so meaningful.
These two braved the rain for their portraits, and honestly, I don’t think I would have changed a thing about the weather. The thought of taking wedding portraits in the rain can feel daunting, but sometimes it creates the most beautiful, moody backdrop.
So if you’re worried about rain on your wedding day, don’t be afraid to embrace it. Bring the clear umbrella and neutral-toned blankets, get a little cozy, and let’s create photos that feel intentional, beautiful, and completely you.
