๐จ๐ฆ๐บ๐ธ CANADAโU.S. TRADE TALKS: CARNEY WALKS AWAY ๐จ
Prime Minister Mark Carney says a CanadaโU.S. trade deal became โuntenableโ after the United States โasked too much and offered too little.โ ๐จ๐ฆ๐ค๐บ๐ธ
According to CBC News, Carney instructed Canadian negotiators to walk away after what he described as unacceptable late demands involving culture, automobiles and Canadian sovereignty. ๐๐บโ๏ธ
Perhaps his most striking comment was that Canada has learned that sometimes the U.S. signature on an agreement can be โwritten in pencil.โ โ๏ธ๐
โ ๏ธ What happens now?
๐ Could escalating tariffs hurt Canada's economy?
๐ What could this mean for Canada's auto industry?
๐ฐ Will Canadian consumers face higher prices?
๐จ๐ฆ Can Canada reduce its economic dependence on the United States?
๐ค Or will both countries eventually return to the negotiating table?
Canada and the United States have one of the world's most deeply integrated economic relationships, so what happens next could have significant consequences on BOTH sides of the border. ๐๐
What do you think? Was Canada right to walk away rather than accept an unfavourable agreement? ๐จ๐ฆ๐
