Well - we kind of disappeared for a while! Life's been hectic this year and we had to prioritize social media vs life and the outdoors!

But we're back, and launching our 2027 Calendars! Better late than never eh?

This is heartbreaking. And its happening all over the world - which is precisely why we search downtown Calgary during migration seasons for survivors to take to Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, and to document the strikes in Fatal Light Awareness Program Canada 's Global Bird Collision Mapper.

Its also why we started selling Feather Friendly Bird Collision Deterrent Markers - its an easy way for everyone to prevent unnecessary bird deaths at home. If you haven't made your windows bird safe yet, please consider doing so and keep your blinds closed and outside lights off after dark!

People keep asking us where to find owls in Alberta, so we have decided to release a detailed map of where to look:

Apparently, its National Loon Day somewhere, so we had to share another photo of Toothpaste!

Wolf Ducks - quite the natural marvel – one parent duck, and one parent wolf, they are always a delight to see or to hear howling at the moon!

Well, we're back to winter in Calgary, so here's a little toasted marshmallow to make you feel better - these birds actually come here to vacation in the winter, so at least we know its worse elsewhere!

Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society Photo Contest!
Every submission helps save wildlife!

PS: Yay for Kyle Matthews - once again a judge, and disappointed he won't have a chance to enter and potentially win a Cotton Carrier Camera Systems, The Camera Store or Vistek prize!

Happy !
This year marks our eighth annual amateur , which launches today.
World Wildlife Day is a United Nations International day to celebrate all the wild animals around the globe and the contributions that they make to our lives.
In Alberta, we are fortunate to share our spaces with hundreds of different species of wildlife. To celebrate their beauty and contributions to the ecosystem, dust off your cameras and get to snapping!
The contest runs from March 3rd to April 14th, 2026.

What do y'all use for watermarking photos?
We have been using lightroom and its a very burdensome process to adjust the positioning for each photo!

The only bird you can take a 30-fps burst and come out of it with 30 truly unique photos! People say AI is driving up the cost of hard drives, but I think its actually hummingbirds!
