With the potential for rainfall to reach 100mm in Alberta over the next bit, it’s best to keep dogs and cats indoors, especially if you live near a lake, river, stream, or flood plains. If you’re property is near any of the above, prepare to evacuate if there are signs of land erosion/flash flooding. Make a plan to escape if needed or hold out in the event of a power outage. Keep pets close by and keep yourself safe. There may also be thunderstorms imbedded with the rainfall. Dogs can get easily get panicked with thunder and lightning. Remember, if the water is flowing high, keep away from the edges of bodies of water so the land doesn’t crumble underneath you. No pet should have to go missing during this as long as you stay proactive and use best judgement. Video is just to help get attention on the matter.

Just felt the need to put up a general pet safety tip. With the strong winds throughout Alberta today, it’s best to keep pets indoors for today with the risk of debris and objects getting blown over. Not worth the risk of having your dog get spooked in your backyard. Or of course outdoor cat getting freaked out and lost.

With coyote mating season taking place from January till March, It's advisable to keep your outdoor cats indoors for this period of time. Coyotes are more active and aggressive during this time of year. Keep your feline friends safe and at home to be let out a later time! Or alternatively, get a Apple Airtag/Samsung tag equivalent collar for urban areas or consider getting a pet gps collar for those rural locations. Kitty got home safe with a little intervention keeping coyote away.🐱

Thermal cameras can be a non intrusive tool to locate animals in the night. Thermal cameras require no light to function, only energy and thus in turn heat. Fun fact paw prints can show up really well on thermal! Especially in the snow!

Being animal aware while at night on a pet search is paramount to safety. See if you can spot the cougar peeking out of the very tall grass. I could only notice cougar till the cougar was only a over a dozen feet away. Cougars will tend to get down low and prowl through tall grass to get in close.
