Happy 5th winter, Prince George ❄️

Spring tried but winter said “just one more thing.”
With the snowfall that rolled in, maternity sessions are heading indoors for now. Cozy, warm, and still just as beautiful.

Some moments need to last longer than the season you’re in. When the chapter is truly meaningful and the story matters, they deserve to be properly remembered, every small detail preserved. Your family’s story deserves to be documented with intention.

My daughter came with me to this session, she often does. She turns thirteen this year and is becoming more curious about what I do. She helps where she can, we drive with windows down and Taylor Swift blasting, and she wonders why I didn’t become a famous singer (just kidding!)

The best part is that she is learning who I am and why I chose to chase my dreams and build a career doing something I truly love. She sees the connections I make, watches me laugh and joke with complete strangers, catch up with clients I’ve known for years and years, give hugs to children who have gotten to know me as “the photo lady”, let kids hold my camera to take their own photos just like I did with her and she witnesses me preserving memories that she will one day want for herself and her own children.

I bought my first camera because of her, and now, thirteen years later, she gets to see how the love I had for photographing her grew into a dream and became one of the best decisions I have ever made.

When the weather turns cold and the world outside feels quiet and still, there is something so special about choosing an in home maternity session.

Soft blankets. Warm light pouring through your windows. The nursery you so carefully prepared. Your hands resting gently on your growing belly in the place where your baby will soon be rocked to sleep.

They tell the story of not just the anticipation, but the space that will hold your baby’s first nights, first snuggles, and first memories. It is deeply personal, beautifully simple, and full of quiet emotion.

There is something sacred about walking into a family’s home in those first days. The quiet, the swaddles draped over the couch, hospital bracelets on the dressers, the smallest newborn diapers in a basket, the way the light falls through the windows in the nursery and bedrooms.

This newborn session was captured exactly where their story is unfolding, in the home they brought their baby back to.

And the details we capture? They matter. The nursery you planned for months. The crib you carefully built. The tiny outfits folded in drawers. The bed where you’ll spend late nights and early mornings. The floor you sit on holding your new baby while you watch your older children play. The living room you spend most your day with your family.

Years from now, it won’t just be about how tiny your baby was. It will be about where you were. What your home looked like. How it felt in this season of your life. Your baby will grow. Your home will change. But these images will hold this chapter exactly as it was.

This weekend, while organizing my hard drive, I opened my 2024 and 2025 folders and realized there are dozens of beautiful sessions I never shared. Busy seasons, packed sports schedules, and the everyday demands of life can make posting feel overwhelming sometimes.

Opening this folder instantly brought me back to those warm 7:00 pm evenings, the golden hour that somehow feels even more magical by the lake, and one of my favorite parts of this job, catching up with clients. Hearing what they’ve been up to, what their kids are doing, their summer plans, how their year has been, and everything in between is the absolute best part of the job.

I may be a little optimistic telling myself winter is over just because February looks different this year, but I know we’re not quite in the clear yet. So while I wait for warm summer evenings, longer days, beautiful golden hours, green grass, wildflowers, and all the familiar faces that come with it, I’ll be sharing some of these sessions from the past two years that were just waiting for the right time to be posted.
