If there was ever a trio that showed just how different three dogs can be, it might be Lira, Alita and Hooper. 😂

Lira is only a year old, so life is still VERY exciting and there is an awful lot of puppy brain happening. Hooper needs a job — and if you don’t give him one, he’ll find a stick and appoint himself to an extremely important stick-carrying position instead. 😂

Alita is the oldest of the three. 🖤 With some hip issues starting to slow her down, this session was about capturing her while she can still get out, explore and enjoy the adventure right alongside everyone else.

So we spent the evening letting all three of them be exactly who they are — puppy brain, important jobs, adventures and all.

And this one felt like the perfect way to bring the three of them together. 🖤

WINDSOR-ESSEX… I’ve got something new in the works. 🍂🎅

This November, I’m looking at bringing two limited seasonal mini-session experiences to Windsor-Essex County — and before I finalize the details, I want to hear from you!

🍂 Fall Minis: beautiful outdoor portraits, and all the personality that makes your dog uniquely them.
🎅 Santa Paws Minis: a little holiday magic, photographed the Born 2 Run way (outdoors, individual appointments, and very dog friendly).

Or maybe you want both. I certainly won’t judge. 😂

I’m currently considering Sunday, November 8 and Saturday, November 14, with a limited number of sessions available.

For now, I’ve opened an Expression of Interest so I can see what Windsor-Essex dog families are most excited about before I finalize the dates, locations and session options.

There’s absolutely no commitment to book — but filling it out means you’ll also be among the first to know when booking opens.

And if you’re new to Born 2 Run Photography, I’ve added some examples of past Fall and Santa Paws sessions to the page so you can get a feel for what we do. 🖤

Sooooo this is Mr. Cow. 🤣

Mr. Cow is Tango’s favourite toy, and at 24 inches tall, it is hilarious to watch him carry it around the house or bring it over to me.

It’s one of those silly little things about Tango that I never want to forget.

So I decided that we needed a photo of him carrying his giant cow. Outside into the backyard we went last week.

I put Tango in a wait and tossed Mr. Cow across the yard with the plan of Tango retrieving it and bringing it straight towards me. Throw 1 went perfectly, and he happily brought Mr Cow back.

Throw 2……….we watched as this giant cow launched sky high, changed course… and landed directly in the kiddie pool about six feet away from me. An entire yard, and that’s where it landed?! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Tango ran over to rescue his beloved cow and stopped because apparently getting his paws wet required some serious consideration.

I should note that the pool had maybe two inches of water in it. 😂

Anyway, Mr. Cow was eventually rescued, brought back over to me soaking wet, and spent the evening drying on my kitchen counter.

I’ll never look at this photo without remembering the ridiculous adventure that came with it, and it got me thinking ❤️

There’s one more dog I need to introduce. She is the soul, and reason that Born 2 Run Photography even exists. ❤️

This is Kaya.

Kaya was my first dog after college and my heart dog. She came into my life when I was still figuring out what adulthood was supposed to look like, and then stuck beside me through pretty much everything my twenties threw at me.

Kaya taught me how much fun it was to actually do things with my dogs. If I came up with something new for us to try, she gave me 100%. We did obedience, bikejoring, scent detection and whatever else I decided we should learn along the way. She was game for pretty much anything as long as we were doing it together.

She was also there during the very early days of my photography, and was the inspiration behind the name Born 2 Run. She patiently put up with being my model while I figured out my camera and, perhaps most importantly, was the reason I learned how to edit leashes and collars out in Photoshop. 🤣

I lost Kaya in December 2016, just a few months shy of her 8th birthday.

And almost ten years later, I still remember so many random things about her. The expressions she made. The things that made me laugh. All the little pieces of her personality that seemed completely ordinary when she was here.

Funny enough, those are some of the things I’m most grateful I remember. ❤️

Last up in my crew is Tango. ❤️

Tango is my 5-year-old Border Collie, my permanent little shadow, and quite possibly one of the dorkiest dogs I have ever owned.

Which I feel like this photo demonstrates fairly well. 🤣

As a puppy, his legs grew WAY faster than the rest of him and watching him run was like watching a baby giraffe trying to figure out how legs work. Thankfully he eventually grew into them, although he is still approximately 80% leg. 😂

He’s also ridiculously expressive. Give him a pup cup or ice cream and you can literally watch his eyes get bigger until eventually he’s completely cross-eyed trying to lick it.

At home, he’s the peacekeeper. He’ll happily play or snuggle with either Zoey or Suki, and wherever I am, Tango is usually somewhere close by.

He’s an incredible problem solver too. Give him something new and you can practically see the wheels turning while he figures out exactly how he wants to approach it.

But probably my favourite thing about Tango is how well he reads me. He somehow always knows when I’m having a rough day or just need a dog to snuggle. ❤️

I’m officially closing registration for my Nova Scotia Fall Mini Sessions tomorrow night so I can finalize my schedule, pack up the car, and start getting ready to head east. 🖤

There are still a few spots remaining, and these will be my last Nova Scotia sessions available until 2027.

Whether it’s been a while since you’ve updated your dog’s portraits, you’ve welcomed someone new to the family, or you’ve simply been saying “next time she’s home…”, this is that next time. 😉

Fall minis are short, relaxed sessions designed to capture a mix of those beautiful portraits for the wall and the personality that makes your dog unmistakably them.

Next up in my crew is Suki (Suzuki). ❤️

Suki is exactly 50% Border Collie and 50% Husky and, after 4 1/2 years of extensive research, I can confidently say: 0/10, do not recommend this breed mix. 🤣

I’ve had mixed breeds before and met hundreds more, and usually you get this wonderful blend where little pieces of each breed show up here and there.

Not Suki.

Suki is either a Border Collie or a Husky, and she can flip between the two like someone turned on a light switch. 😂

Border Collie Suki is brilliant, attentive, ridiculously fast to learn and has probably the most reliable recall of my three dogs.

Husky Suki has heard me say “no, I don’t want to be licked” for four and a half years and remains completely unconvinced that the word applies to her.

She is also quite possibly the worst snuggler on the planet. She’ll curl up against you looking all sweet and innocent, wait until you get comfortable, and then flip onto her back and start flailing all four feet around while repeatedly punching you in the face. 🤦🏼‍♀️

She talks at you, throws toys at you, and if you’re too slow she’ll just start throwing them into the air and catching them herself. And I’m pretty sure her tongue is permanently about 3mm too long for her mouth. 😂

She is equal parts brilliant, independent, ridiculously sweet and what in the actual huh just happened.

And that pretty much sums up life with Suki. 🤣

I figured since my dogs make fairly regular appearances around here, they probably deserve a proper introduction. 🤣Meet ...

I figured since my dogs make fairly regular appearances around here, they probably deserve a proper introduction. 🤣

Meet Zoey ❤️

Zoey is my Heinz 57 mix, and probably the dog with the least understanding of a personal bubble I have ever met. If she can be touching you, sitting on you, leaning against you or somehow wedged into the same 12 inches of space you’re occupying, that is exactly where she wants to be.

She’s my sensitive girl with some pretty big feelings about the world, but she’s also helped multiple foster dogs learn that they were safe here. ❤️

She can spend half the afternoon happily suntanning in the backyard, but the second you bring out a ball, frisbee or tug toy, she goes from 0 to 150% like her life depends on it. 😂 She absolutely LOVES training and will happily work for as long as there are treats or a toy involved.

Stuffed toys, however, do not receive the same kindness. They have approximately 90 seconds to live in this house. If there’s a squeaker inside, Zoey considers it her personal responsibility to locate it and permanently silence it as quickly as possible. 🤣 She has successfully destroyed all of the “tough” toys they sell in stores lol.

She snorts at me when she wants a treat, unleashes the most ridiculous hound howl if one of the other pups gets to do a frisbee run without her, and will take absolutely any opportunity to invade your personal space.

Basically, Zoey is equal parts sensitive soul, professional snuggler and tiny wrecking ball. 😂❤️ She’s built like She-Hulk and will do backflips for the water hose or some bubbles.

And yet, I wouldn’t change a thing about her.
