Scott is a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls Canada. His interest in photography began at an early age with his first camera being a Kodak Brownie bought for $2 at a flea market. He took the camera on his grade 6 class trip to Ottawa but his father would only let him use B&W film as it was cheaper. He later graduated to a sears pocket 110 camera. Once he got his first summer job as Frankenstein on Clifton hill at the age of 14, he was able to make his own money and decisions so he purchased his first SLR...he was hooked. In the fall of 1983, Scott joined the Niagara Falls Camera Club, now known as the Niagara Association of Photographic Art, and the rest as they say is history. He specialized in close up nature photography, in particular dragonflies and butterflies. That wasn't all though, he has gotten into water drop photography, portraits, fine art studio work, flowers and for the last couple of years has enjoyed rodeo and motorcycle racing photography. For a number of years he even did weddings to help fund his photography addiction.
Scott has won many awards for his work and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. He also keeps busy on the camera club judging circuit as well as speaking to other clubs and groups about various photography topics.
Scott got into light painting, along with his long-time friend Chris Empey just as covid was starting out. Scott and Chris spent a lot of time educating themselves and practising light painting.... what else was there to do? Scott will be talking about equipment and techniques used to create these unique one-of-a-kind images. After all, light painting is as much about the performance art as it is about the photography when you start getting into it.
