For thousands of years, the Assiniboine River has flowed through this ancient landscape, silently witnessing the lives of countless generations who walked its shores long before us.

The surrounding landscape has witnessed thousands of years of human history.

Some places seem to hold their history in the very earth beneath our feet.

A favourite memory from this day last year. β™₯️
I was out doing a family photo shoot tonight with some of my favourite people, and I arrived a little bit early, because it’s one of my favourite places on earth.
Spruce Woods Provincial Park.
I don’t make it out that way too often but when I do, I always go early so I have more time to take it all in.
And in the fall, it’s truly a photographerβ€˜s dream.
Every leaf is a unique work of art.
I looked at about 100 leaves before I came to this one, and I was more than delighted, to say the least, when I saw that there appeared to be the most perfect little heart etched out by mother nature herself.
A special masterpiece, waiting to be noticed by the gaze of someone who seeks to find the beauty. β™₯️

This is one of my personal all time favourite pictures. I was having a great day. Wandering around exploring, enjoying every second.
Much like when I was a kid! I’m bigger/older now but have no problem having just as much fun, still doing the exact same stuff as I did then.
I still love it.

A beautiful sunset, old wood corner post, and a rusty gate that doesn't swing very well.
I know because I tried to ride it.
It's a farm kid thing.

I felt this in my soul.
I noticed.
πŸͺΆπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ€

~I whispered in your ear today,
you thought it was the breeze β€”
so I tumbled through a feather
and landed at your feet.

I sang a happy, little song
from high up in a tree β€”
but something else distracted you
and you missed my melody.

I thought, I must shine brighter,
so I painted you a sky β€”
I sent a double rainbow
and a pretty butterfly.

Each time I tried to speak to you,
you did not notice me β€”
but I was there between each prayer
and grief-filled memory.

So when your shoulders feel the sun
or the flowers begin to sway.
When the light between the trees
bends ’round to start another day.

Just turn around and take a breath.
Inhale what you can’t see.
Look for the things that move you
and know that it was me.~

Sometimes I make things up, but this is not one of them.
So here’s my favourite badger, Wallace.
I met him this past June, and I was over the moon to actually see one this close.
I told him I liked his ears, and thought he was quite cute.
He told me he’d drag me down his hole and have me for an appetizer.
Nothing personal. οΏΌ
