A couple of wildlife landscape photos from earlier this year to close out 2025. Social media is all about the tight portraits for wildlife but in these photos I wanted to capture the precarious feeling of these Murres huddled together on the cliffside with waves crashing below. A big shout-out to for being an advocate for wildlife habitat and landscape shots and not just the tight portraits we all love. A big thanks to my wife as well for being there to remind me while in the field to zoom out and capture more of the scene.

It took 17,000 steps but I was able to find these two roosting owls yesterday morning. The Eastern Screech-Owl was quite well camouflaged sitting in the tree cavity while the Barred Owl prefered the denser branches. Unfortunately the Black-backed Woodpecker evaded us all morning so it'll have to wait for another day.
