This is easily one of my favourite pictures. Just me and my Lilla looking out at the horizon dreaming of the endless possibilities, all the adventures we’d have, the things we’d learn and all the ordinary days we’d get to share.
I lost Lilla last Friday. Today marks seven days since I last saw her, held her, petted her, brushed her, and simply spent time with her. Seven days. And I can’t believe this is my life now.
I loved everything about Lilla. Her softness. Her strength. Her funny little ways. Her beautiful face. Her incredible spirit. I loved simply being around her.
She was my first horse, my teacher, my adventure partner, and my heart horse. She gave me a place to learn, to grow, and simply to be. I loved getting to know her exactly as she was. There was something regal about her. A quiet confidence, a certainty in herself, and an energy that made you notice when she entered a space.
Thank you for being my first horse. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for letting me into your world. Thank you for all the quiet moments, the lessons, the laughter and the love.
You fought so hard, my love. I wish more than anything you had won. Unfortunately, your body couldn’t keep up with the battle.
If I had to choose between never knowing you or holding this heartbreak forever, I would still choose you. Every. Single. Time. I love you with all my heart my Lilla girl. And I always will.
Goodbye my beautiful Lilla. You deserved a long, happy life. I’m so sorry we didn’t get more of it. 🕊️
To my clients and friends here at Fawn and Tux, I wanted to share this because Lilla was a very private part of my life, and many of you may not have known about her.
I’m still here, still caring for your animals, but I’m navigating a profound loss right now. I may be quieter than usual, take a little longer to respond, or simply not have quite as much of myself to give for a while.
I’m asking for a little patience and grace as I find my footing again. Thank you for understanding. 🤍
