🤍 I am incredibly humbled and honestly a little emotional to share that I have been nominated for the Quinte Business Achievement Awards as a Young Entrepreneur.

I was born & raised in Belleville. This is home. This is the community that raised me, that I raised my kids & the community where I chose to build my business.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn't just want to be a photographer. I wanted to build a business that gave something back to the place that gave so much to me. That has become such a huge part of Chelsea Sims Photography.

I intentionally collaborate with local businesses, farms, parks and organizations, incorporate local products into my experiences, recommend other entrepreneurs to my clients, and create sessions that encourage people to explore everything our beautiful Quinte Region has to offer. Because I truly believe that when one small business grows, it can help another one grow too.

But the part of this business that means the most to me will always be the people. The families who come back year after year. The babies, children, couples and pets I get to photograph. The parents who feel beautiful. The child who needs a little extra time. The families who trust me during their hardest moments. I want every person who walks through my studio doors to feel welcomed, valued and completely themselves.

So being nominated as a Young Entrepreneur feels like recognition not just for my business, but for the why behind it.

For choosing to build something here. For supporting other small businesses.
For continually learning and growing. For creating experiences instead of simply taking photographs. For trying to make a little ripple through the community I call home. Whether I win or not, I am already incredibly grateful.

It’s been a while and I’m long overdue for a welcome post.. because WHO IS THIS WOMAN?! 😂🙋🏼‍♀️

If you’re new around here, heyyyy! I’m Chelsea — your photographer! But I’m also the professional chaos wrangler, memory maker, dog lover, mom, and one of the faces behind Chelsea Sims Photography. 🤍📸

I’ve been photographing the beautiful, messy, hilarious, emotional, and completely real moments that make up your life for years now. Weddings, families, couples, newborns, pets, milestones, and even my incredibly special end-of-journey sessions — I genuinely love getting to be invited into these little pieces of your lives and seeing your families year after year xo

I am 34, born and raised in Belleville, iced coffee lover, Netflix binger, s**t book reader, lover of all animals but especially dogs, star gazer and sunset chaser! About to celebrate my 12 year wedding anniversary married to the man I’ve loved my entire life, and mama to our two chaotic children and two fur babies.

And if you’ve been following me for a while… you may have noticed something slightly different lately. 👀

Yep. After being a redhead since 2021, I decided to make a pretty dramatic change and went back to my emo BLACK. 🖤

I posted this on my personal feed yesterday and I realized, I should post it here because ultimately I would not be here without each and every one of you!

Buckle up though because I’m going to type this all out without using ai because honestly, you deserve realness (Megan watch for the typos cuz you always got my back 😂)!

When I went all in with my business, I really went all in. We took out a new mortgage for our studio space, I started by doing anything and everything I could do to get my name out there and to create connections, I stayed up until 2 am daily. Looking back, those times were so hard. Not only on the kids and our marriage but on my body and mentally. But it was worth it!

It was worth it because I taught my children how to persevere. I taught them that hard work pays off and that if you truly love something - go all in and do it. Even in the hard times and the times you don’t feel good enough, the times people try to drag you down, just put your head high and power through. Don’t. Give. Up.

Just being recognized in our area is honestly prize enough. The heart and soul of my business is customer service - I know you hear this day in and day out but it truly is! I want my clients to have the best experience possible and it’s not possible without my amazing assistant, Destiny! (And previously Nikki xo). We want you to feel heard and responded to quickly. we want you to feel like family not customers! (thank you ladies!!! 🤍🤍🤍🫶🏻)

This doesn’t come with mistakes though. I cannot say I am perfect because I am far from it and we are always learning ways to improve but what makes a good business is owning up to your mistakes and learning from them to do better in the future. There is always room to grow!

Through all of this what I’m really trying to say is there is no me without you! You guys are what makes me who I am today. The families year after year, the people trusting me when feeling most vulnerable. The supporters. The people who have been here from the beginning. There is no Chelsea Sims Photography without each and every one of you!
