A couple months ago on our excursion to Joshua Tree at last light we made the trek up this tall rock face and out in front of us were a few Desert Bighorn sheep scattered across the cliff faces. We stayed and watched them for a good half hour and then this beautiful ram came out and skylined himself giving a great photo opportunity. Joshua Tree never disappoints.

With endless rain the last few weeks I had to stop the boat on the way back to the launch to capture the fantastic glass like water and sun coming through the clouds on a very uncharacteristically cold and wet August evening on the river.

For 2 days after our 3 days of crazy blizzards, the birds have been crazy and on the food search. -15s with 70+km/h winds have made for a cold but happy and busy dog retrieving Old Squaw, Bufflehead and Goldeneye drakes!🐕

You may also be wondering how in the hell do you have a monster walleye while out hunting? Well; after setting up the decoys this morning and sitting down getting ready for shooting light we watched a big otter drag this flopping pickerel onto shore. I then sent Sky to chase it off back into the water and there in lies our day of surf & turf. Limit of ducks and a 13.5lb walleye. Incredible!

Sky has been busy this year! Early cold snap got the birds moving and even brought some early travelers. As mixed of a bag as they come; from redheads, to ring necks, bluebill, woodie, mallard and even some coot. Nevertheless always happy to get out and chase birds.

Always very exciting to get your hands on a banded bird and contribute to the conservation efforts and data being recorded. Although, I was disappointed this beautiful American Black Duck was too damaged to send off to the taxidermist we have the picture and USGS certificate for our memories.

*Note, bird was minimum 10+yrs old as stated by the banding information*

Sky has been crushing it this year! Early morning 1 man limit. Needless to say, when these big Canadian Honkers are almost her size and put up a good fight trying to beat her up there is nothing else that gets her that fired up!🔥🔥🐕
