A Photographic Love Affair with Life Welcome, grab a coffee & enjoy. A bit about moi...I am 44, Neurodivergent Canadian living with Autoimmune Disease. My edits of choice are cropping. Enjoy!

I'm an amateur photographer, I capture nature's beauty as I see it. No perfection, just moments.

Happy Summer my friends!!
Thanks for sticking around.

The Squirrel (your host) & The Moose (Squirrel's Life mate/Anchor being/Getaway driver) have been kept quite busy with work, family, hospital visits, funerals and more. We put a roof on the family homestead. Hell, I even got kicked in the tummy by an Alpaca today 😂

To put it simply, 2025 has given us or those we love, some hassles. So, the camera trips have been minimal, but things are looking up. I have a photo review date with my bonus daughter tomorrow to go over some of the shots we took on our first joint camera adventure. After that, I will have some time to post some of the beautiful things that nature had to show me this summer so far.

In the meantime, please join me in chuckling at our ginger puss Lucy as she helps me choose our best shot of each subject.

See you soon. 👏🏻

Psssst Hey you, yes you! Are you still there? Good. I'm happy to see you. Life has been chaotic, but I'm still determined to find time to get some more out there. I have had a couple of really cool encounters with nature, that I'm excited to share. In the meantime, check out this expectant Mama! She is a curious girl. I don't know why, but she kind of reminds me of Gypsy Rose. Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day and Family Day. Share soon.

Had an absolute banger of a day, visiting and exploring the various lakes & trails of today. Did you know that there are over 2400 lakes and 1200 streams & rivers there? This eager Black capped chickadee is resident to the largest lake Algonquin boasts. Lake Opeongo. More to come later. Still driving home. Well, I'm not driving, he is. Lol

Happy New Year! 2025 already. So true to my neurospicy form... I completely s**t the bed with this page. October turned into January just a little too easy. I wish I could blame things being busy solely, but truth is, its been a mix of that, SAD and bouts of insomnia and the usual disassociation. Periodic hyperfixations on other things. Then prior to Christmas, I started with a cold that brought with it a nasty infection. Needless to say I hadn't gotten to partake in any of my "Photo therapy" since the last posted shots. This week the sun has been shining and I've been to Algonquin once and Presqu'ile 3 or 4 times. I'm feeling a bit rusty. Ah well, I'll get back into the groove.

I commited myself to posting them tonight, so here they are. Again, these images are not perfect, some are quite 'noisy' and I don't care. Enjoy the beauty.

It was quite something to see the full moon so high in the sky today at 6:35am. Going to be a wild day!

These were shot an hour ago.
I'm off for the week and cramming in all of the activities I had planned during my other vacations that were messed up.

Day one:

Dad & I went out to the pond to see if the otters were swimming. No such luck, but this Monarch was more than happy to oblige with some poses.

I have come to the sad realization that I have too many pictures and not enough time. I'm trying haha. 90.7GB of personal family photos and 54GB of my other Photography... Now that it's all (mostly) sorted and fully backed up, I can start watermarking and sharing... I promise, my 14 wonderful followers... more is coming 🤣 In the meantime, enjoy these complimentary p***y shots... Willow (white) and Indie (Bengal)

After seeing I must say.. This is my absolutely favourite hummingbird! Not that I didn't love before, or Wolverine for that matter. Maybe Ryan Reynolds will see the Deadpool variant I captured in my world!

Is it just me, or is this ruby throated hummingbird channeling our favourite Marvel character in

And no... I 100% did not edit this image. Except for the water mark

Happy Friday... oh I guess it's Saturday now.

After a stressful start to the week, between. Car repairs & making the necessary decision to close the book on a toxic friendship in my life, I took a few days off to spend out in nature with my hubby. We had a few really great experiences with the brown fuzzy ones. I even captured some beautiful moments with the 600mm.

I have to download them still, but this situation below made me laugh, so I had to share it.

As my ever patient knight in shining Toyota slowly drove me through deer country, he spotted a beautiful Doe at the roads edge.

He pulled over to so I could leap out and get the shot. Just as I lifted the mighty Tamron, a jeep drove up from the opposite end of the loop road, spooking our girl back into the brush.
So, not one to be defeated, I decided to walk around the little wooded area, hoping to catch her on the flipside.

So I disappear on him and lugging my big 600mm, I traipse down the entire loop road, in my pillow slides. 34c humidity. As I reach the top of the hill heading back towards his vehicle, guess who comes leisurely strolling by his door. Thankfully, I still got a picture. If I had just waited! Haha.

More to come over the weekend. Enjoy!

So, one thing you will notice about me, well more than one... I have no rhyme or reason to the things I shoot most days. I also have no filter (I don't mean snapchat) and I don't mince words. If I have something to say, I say it. I am only responsible for what I say, not how one interprets it.

Anyway... I hyperfixate on my subjects. The main ones being deer, swans, planes. So if you think you might get sick of any of that, sorry not sorry.

This group of shots is another dump from the summer of 2021. We spent a lot of time going north. We lost one of my grandmothers just days before 2020 started. As a result, we discovered that our family homestead was in great disrepair, and required some blood sweat and tears from the old McKenzie clan. So in between employment work and family work... I whipped out my Canon for a little therapy.

Enjoy!

You may even notice a certain Hummingbird trying their best to emulate the Merc with the mouth.
