The Barrie Baycats are pleased to announce that longtime Baycat Tyler Plumpton has been added to the club’s coaching staff ahead of the 2026 Canadian Baseball League Semi-Finals.

Plumpton has been rostered as a catcher with the Baycats this season but will serve as a coach for Barrie’s playoff run, bringing his experience, leadership and familiarity with the organization into the dugout.

“Plumpy is a huge piece to our puzzle and has been for years,” said Baycats Manager Josh Matlow. “His veteran presence and voice plays an important role in our playoff run and we are excited to have him by our side, even if it means not being in the lineup.”

A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Plumpton has a long history with the Baycats organization. He was part of Barrie’s championship teams in 2014 and 2015 before returning to the club in 2021. Since then, he has remained a veteran presence within the organization while developing a strong relationship with the Baycats pitching staff.

“Over the years, I’ve made many sacrifices for this organization, but I’ve been fortunate to receive so much more in return,” said Plumpton. “I’m grateful for the trust, support, opportunities, and relationships this organization has given me, and I’ll always value what it has meant to be part of this team.

“As we pursue another championship, I’m simply looking forward to doing whatever I can to support my teammates and contribute to our shared goal. I’m proud to be part of this group, and I’ll continue to give everything I can to help the team succeed.”

Throughout his time behind the plate, Plumpton has been known for his defensive ability, game management and rapport with Barrie’s pitchers. That experience and familiarity with the club will now allow him to contribute in a different capacity as the Baycats enter the postseason.

4 already!

WE’RE OFFICIALLY 4 YEARS OLD!

Somehow, four years ago, At the Scene started with a camera, an idea and a simple goal: show up for our community and tell the stories happening around us.
Four years later… we’re still showing up, although we may require slightly more caffeine.
And what a ride it has been.

We’ve had the privilege of being there for some incredible moments across Barrie, Simcoe County and beyond.
From charity hockey games like Hockey Helps the Homeless, the Crosstown 911 Classic and the Ishkode Cup, to being rinkside with the Barrie Colts.

From summer nights at the ballpark with the Barrie Baycats, to community fundraisers where sports brought people together for something much bigger than the final score.

From concerts, festivals and local musicians to some pretty unforgettable performances through At The Entertainment Scene.

We’ve watched communities rally behind families, charities, food banks, shelters and organizations that needed a helping hand.

We’ve celebrated grand openings, local entrepreneurs, restaurants and small businesses taking a chance on themselves and we've eaten a few burgers, wings and questionable amounts of food in the process. Somebody had to do it.

We’ve photographed firefighters, police, paramedics and other first responders not only during difficult calls, but during charity events, community initiatives and the moments that remind us there are people behind the uniforms.

We’ve covered parades, festivals, sporting events, fundraisers, ribbon cuttings, community celebrations and countless moments that simply made us proud to call this area home.

And somewhere along the way, this little idea grew into a community of 177,000 followers across our platforms.
That number is incredible.
But the number has never been the best part.
You are.

Every person who has followed us, shared a post, tagged a friend, sent us a tip, invited us to an event, trusted us with their story, hired us, partnered with us, waved when they saw the At the Scene vehicle or yelled “AT THE SCENE!” when they spotted one of our cameras, you helped build this.

There have been serious days. There have been heartbreaking days. There have been absolutely ridiculous days.

And thankfully, there have been a whole lot of really good days.

After four years, our mission remains pretty simple:
COMMUNITY FIRST.

Show up. Take the picture. Tell the story. Support local. Highlight the people doing good things. Have some fun along the way.

And apparently create a birthday graphic featuring a hedgehog surrounded by enough burgers, hot dogs and chicken wings to feed half of Barrie because we appreciate the haters too.

Happy 4th Birthday, At the Scene!

Thank you for four incredible years.

Here’s to the people we’ve met, the stories we’ve told, the friendships we’ve made and all the scenes we haven't arrived at yet.
Four years down. We’re just getting started.

WOW is all we can say about this power duo known as The Manic Boys And Girls Club. Montana and I are always treated to such an amazing performance that our shutters seem to never stop.

Unplugged and raw or wired and and blasting, they truly brought their A game to Gussapolooza Music Festival as the Friday night headliners.

Willow (8) may not have shot all the acts and activities at Gussapolooza Music Festival, what she did get was awe-worthy and memorable.

Thank you Russ and Val for accrediting Willow making her the youngest photographer in Ontario this music season.
The cup was full as you say Russ and we noticed other the acts utilizing youths to capture content.

A unique way to bring the next generation up in a welcoming environment.

We will only highlight and not bombard you with the 2700+ this young sniper took.
