Bald Eagles were once listed as Endangered due to DDT poisoning. Today, they nest throughout Ontario and are becoming a common sight in Algonquin Park.

This is a young bald eagle; it takes five years to develop the characteristic white head, tail, and all dark body.

Featured as one of the four species of wolves in our stamp issue, the eastern wolf (Canis sp. cf. lycaon) is only slightly bigger than an eastern coyote. Itā€™s a federally listed species at risk that lives mainly in central Ontario and southwestern Quebec.

The eastern wolf featured on this stamp was photographed in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario.
