It's been an exhausting few days watching my neighbourhood suffer such destruction. Several have lost homes, property damage is extensive. Our neighbourhood will not look the same for a long time.
What stands out most potently however is the incredible resilience of the people who live here in Grandview Flats. Many stayed and fought alongside BCWFS crews for the legacies they have built. Their bravery and strength absolutely prevented further destruction and loss throughout the neighbourhood.
When it was made aware that some had left only with the clothes on their backs, our selfless neighbours jumped into action donating what they could to ensure everyone was taken care of. The compassion of the people that surround us are what keeps many from giving up.
I am so incredibly proud to live in this neighbourhood we call Grandview Flats. To know that my neighbours stand tall together, to know that no one will ever be alone in the fight, to know that we wi support and lift one another up in times of need.
