I am by no means someone who advertises for weddings… but when they look a little something like this, I may just be tempted to spend an evening capturing forever. 🤎

There’s just something about horses being horses that I’ll never get tired of. 🤎

And Adalon Farms is a place that I always look forward to being invited back to.

Which made me think, while typing this out… did you know that 79% of my bookings this year have been repeat clients?!

Crazy, right? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m always excited to meet new clients and keep growing this little community of mine. But there’s something extra special about being invited back time and time again because someone loved their photos so much that they can’t wait to have more. 🥹

I don’t think I’ll ever stop being grateful for that.

Not me posting something for the first time in almost a month and then throwing my feed out the window with what I post. 🙈
But I have had 0 desire to post anything. Not because I am not busy, not because I don’t want to share any of my work, but rather because realized that I am so sick of trying to fit into a box.

What do I mean by that? Well it’s everything to do with social media…What I should post, when I should post, what my feed is supposed to look like, because apparently we are taught that consistency is everything. Basically find your niche and stay in it.

And after 5 years of trying to fit into a certain niche and only worrying about consistency I realized I lost something along the way. A little bit of my spark. ✨ I started believing that all the other parts of my creativity needed to stay hidden because they didn’t fit into this box I have built for myself.

Now as I type those thoughts out for today’s post, I can’t help but laugh, because when did we let these things dictate our lives? Especially as creatives, aren’t we supposed to break the mold a little? And I can’t even tell you what changed for me. Maybe I did. Maybe I’m just at the point of my life, where I care a whole lot less about doing things the way I am supposed to, and rather how I want to. Do I dare say I am growing older? Maybe even maturing? 😅 ( okay lets not push it lol)

But what I do know is that I want to start sharing things that make me feel something. The shoots that light something up in me. The photos I finish editing and just sit there staring at for a second thinking : Holy S**t! I did that! 😱

Don’t get me wrong, will that still be a horse and their person in a field at sunset most times? Hell yea!! But apparently, sometimes it’ll also be a red dress on top of a parking garage in downtown!

I think I’m okay with not knowing exactly what my feed is going to look like anymore ( and you have no idea how liberating it has been to delete any kind of planning app off my phone lol). Actually, I think I’m kind of excited about it!

SO if you came this far, here’s to my new mantra : F**k fitting into a box. Hell yes to creating and sharing what I want 💁🏻‍♀️

My repeat clients know exactly who they are. 😂🩵
The biggest compliment as a photographer is when someone trusts you with every story year after year. I don’t take that for granted. 🥹📸

Horse people… I need your help settling a debate. 😂

What’s one thing your horse does that drives you absolutely crazy… but if they suddenly stopped doing it, you’d secretly miss it?

Mine is Cooper constantly having to chew on his lead rope. 🙈

Summer always feels way too short, but this year it somehow feels even shorter with all the rain we’ve been getting. 🌧️

Between rescheduled sessions and trying to chase the sunshine, my calendar has unexpectedly opened up with a handful summer golden hour sessions.

If you’ve been saying “we really should book photos this summer,” this is your little sign. 🤍 Whether it’s you and your horse, your family, your significant other, or simply a season of life you never want to forget, I’d love to capture it for you.

Before we know it, the evenings will be getting cooler and we’ll be talking about fall colours. 🍁

If you’ve been thinking about booking a session, send me a message and let’s make the most of these beautiful summer evenings while they’re here. ☀️

Most photoshoots involve loading up my gear, driving fairly far, and hoping traffic cooperates.

This one involved a short walk across the road to my neighbors and spending the evening with a grad, a beautiful green dress, and a few very photogenic 4H cows. 🐄💚

I’d call that a win!
