I don’t have a story for you today.

Instead I got to spend the afternoon hearing stories from Mamita Elvira’s life.

She recently turned 83, my grandmother.

Would you join me in wishing her a Happy Birthday. Do you know her?

Who remembers the golden days of San Francisco Restaurant in Orange Walk Town? IYKYK

Yup! That’s my Mamita. They don’t make em like her anymore.

When I go to her house she gives me pan dulce that she bakes. It makes me feel like a rich man. For $ ain’t what feeds my soul.

Love is.

And this lady is love. And she deserves only love in return.

Happy Birthday Mamita, may God protect you, bless you always.

As a photographer I am more retired than ever before and yet I’ll still get behind the camera for fullfilling projects like shooting special needs kids, something I’ve volunteered for a # of years now.

Over a decade ago I cross paths with this baby with striking blue eyes. They almost looked fake. (The images are unretouched!)

I remember asking her mom if I could photograph her, thankfully she said yes.

Over a decade later, today, as I’m shooting Doreth’s annual Christmas event for special needs kids I encounter the same little girl with the striking blue eyes.

Except now she’s 13 years old.

I asked if I could take a selfie with her. She happily agreed. (scroll to last photo)

Let me tell you when I got a moment to myself I had to hold it together because I wanted to cry.

I thanked God for giving me this little moment a decade ago and today.

I got her moms #, can’t wait to print these for them. 🥹
