I saw a huge variety of invertebrates in my recent trips to the Peruvian Amazon. I wish I had got the camera out for more of them, but I think I was too focused on frogs!

This is a Brazilian Wandering Spider (Phoneutria boliviensis) which I relocated from my cabin in the Santa Cruz Forest Reserve during my first trip.

A Yasuni Spiny-backed Frog (Osteocephalus yasuni) from the Peruvian Amazon.

With its incredible diversity, identifying all of the countless amphibians that I saw on my recent trips to Peru hasn't been easy. This is one of the last ones that I struggled to ID and I'm grateful to **ping_in_peru via for helping me out!

At first glance, this probably just looks like a murky jungle pond. Have a closer look in the water and you'll see what looks like a particularly weird-shaped leaf. That is the insanely camouflaged Suriname Toad (P**a p**a), another amazing and iconic Amazonian amphibian. I was so glad to get to see one of these on my second trip to the Peruvian Amazon at ' lodge.
