🇬🇧 The incredible and charismatic Azara’s Night Monkey (Aotus azarae), one of the very few truly nocturnal primates in the world, found in the Neotropics.

Thanks to their secretive nighttime lifestyle, they are notoriously difficult to find, let alone photograph. These fascinating monkeys are monogamous, living in close-knit family groups of up to five individuals, where both parents play an active role in raising their young.

Their diet consists mainly of fruits, complemented by insects and other small invertebrates—another remarkable adaptation to life after dark.
🇧🇷 O incrível e carismático macaco-da-noite-de-Azara (Aotus azarae), um dos pouquíssimos primatas verdadeiramente noturnos do mundo, encontrado nas florestas da América do Sul.

Graças aos seus hábitos noturnos e discretos, é uma espécie notoriamente difícil de encontrar e, mais ainda, de fotografar. Esses fascinantes primatas são monogâmicos e vivem em pequenos grupos familiares de até cinco indivíduos, nos quais ambos os pais participam ativamente dos cuidados com os filhotes.

Sua dieta é composta principalmente por frutos, complementada por insetos e outros pequenos invertebrados — mais uma notável adaptação à vida após o anoitecer.
