As the sun drops below the horizon at the Syracuse Utah Temple, architectural and landscape lighting is switched on, creating a mesmerizing scene of partially lit walls and trees against a backdrop of blue and pink skies. The temple sits on the west side of Davis County, which is Utah's smallest county by land area but third largest by population. The county was established in 1850 and named after early pioneer leader, Daniel C. Davis. (Photo: John Howes)
