Dawn in the hinterland / Amanhecer no sertão

City of Carira, Sergipe, Brazil. One of the regions in northeastern Brazil with a very hot climate and very little rainfall. Dawn, even in places hit by drought, presents us with beautiful images, and makes us completely forget, even if temporarily, the difficulties of the place.

This is the largest natural sink in northeastern Brazil. Located in the city of Coronel João Sá, Bahia, this sink is located inside a private farm, but very well preserved, it draws attention for its beauty and large size.

Coronel João Sá, Bahia, Brazil, is known as the city of stones. The exploitation of stones in the city is the source of income for a large part of its residents. Here in this image, we have two workers, grinding the rough stone, making it small stones that are generally used in paving the streets. Here is the hinterland, northeast of Brazil, sometimes with temperatures that reach more than 40 degrees Celsius. These workers, already accustomed to the climate, make more than 2,000 stones a day, in a completely manual process. The big stone behind the image will be transformed into small stones like the ones shown in front of the worker.

Coronel João Sá, Bahia, Brasil, é conhecida como a cidade das pedras. A exploração das pedras na cidade, é a fonte de renda de grande parte dos seus moradores. Aqui nesta imagem, temos dois trabalhadores, desbastando a pedra bruta, fazendo desta, pequenas pedras que geralmente são utilizadas na pavimentação das ruas. Aqui é sertão, nordeste do Brasil, tendo as vezes, temperaturas que chegam a mais de 40 graus Celsius. Já acostumados com o clima, estes trabalhadores, chegam a fazer mais de 2.000 pedras por dia, num processo totalmente manual. A grande pedra atras na imagem, será transformada em pequenas pedras como estas mostradas na frente do trabalhador.
