There was a time when a single photo was enough.

No carousel.
No reel.
No carefully assembled collection of images just to make a post feel complete.

Just one photograph that said what it needed to say.

Maybe we’ve made sharing a little too complicated. Sometimes a moment, a feeling, a memory, ... They don’t need five, ten or fifteen photos to make them matter.

One image can be enough.

🎶 Days keep running through my head
All the things we do when I lose, I spin, oh
It's the way it goes 🎶

Some ordinary places in Roeselare,
before they disappear into memory.

I wasn't looking for landmarks.
I was looking for the moments in between.
The feeling that nothing special was happening
until it was.

The long, slow summer.

Not every childhood memory begins with an adventure.

They begin in ordinary places.
In the grass.
On a small bicycle left in the afternoon sun.
In the silence behind half-closed blinds.
In the light falling through a window.

Years later, we won't remember every day.
We won't always remember the place.
But we'll remember the feeling of those days.

Facing Currents

Some photographs find their soundtrack long after they are taken.

For this small series, my mind kept returning to 'Facing Currents' by the brilliant Mechelen band 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐍 . Not because of the music at first, but because of the album cover. A mysterious building standing at the edge of a rugged coastline. A place that feels both inviting and unreachable. (Swipe to the last slide if you're curious.)

If I had made that image myself, I'd probably still be smiling today. The image perfectly captures the mood and atmosphere I strive for in my poetic work.

But it wasn't the cover that stayed with me. It was the story behind the song and album. Capitan describes Facing Currents as an exploration of discovering who you really are in prolonged solitude, and trying not to lose that person once you reconnect with the world.

That idea lingered while I walked along the beach.

The sea has a way of stripping things down. There are no expectations here. No noise asking you to become someone else. Just wind, water, sand ... and enough silence to hear your own thoughts again.

The footprints disappear.
The tide redraws the beach.
Even a shadow lasts only as long as the light allows.

Maybe that's why the coast has always felt like a place of return rather than escape. Not somewhere to run away from life, but somewhere to meet yourself again before walking back into it.

Sometimes that's all we need.

This is what I love doing most: wandering without a destination, letting everyday life unfold in front of my lens.

Small moments. Ordinary moments. Quiet corners. Fleeting glances. The kind of scenes that most people walk past, but somehow stay with me.

A quick stroll through the streets of Rotterdam during a family visit. Not exactly the ideal setup: pushing my daughter around in a stroller after she twisted her ankle 🙂 But no complaints! Just enjoying some family time and grabbing a few frames along the way.
