And I'm off to Florennes to capture the arriving aircraft and to watch the rehearsals from the aircraft that are going to participate in the upcoming BAF-days airshow that will be held there this weekend.

Here's a shot that I took 10 years ago at Florennes, from the (at that time) past and present aircraft that the Belgian Air Force Red Devils display team were Flying.
Hopefully we will see this team again in the near future flying with the new Pilatus PC-7Mk.X

The spectacular colour scheme on this German Eurofighter perfectly mimics what last night looked like where I live.
Mother nature really gave us a very impressive light and sound show ⛈️⚡️

The Lomcovák, a maneuver that you rather would associate with acrobatic propeller aircraft, but not with jets...
However the solo pilots from Frecce Tricolori and (in the past) Al Fursan managed to include this impressive maneuver into their display when showcasing the agility of the MB-339's.

On this date, 13 years ago, I was attending the Open Dagen/Open Days airshow that was held at Volkel.
Back then, the airshow circuit was still blessed with quite a number of iconic jet warbirds.

One of those was this stunning looking Gloster Meteor that flew a beautiful display.

One of the first airshows I went to when I had my first DSLR-camera were the "Defensiedagen / Defence Days" in 2008.
These were held at Florennes airbase.

At the end of this month I will visit this base again during the spottersday that will be held there for the 2026 Belgian Air Force Days.

But let's share a shot that I took during the arrivals for the 2008 "Defensiedagen / Defence days" airshow back in 2008.
I think a shot from this beautiful Polish Fitter arriving at Florennes will do just fine don't you think? :)

It's always nice when pilots practice some low approaches or touch and go's when returning from a training sortie.

On this picture you can see a Kleine Brogel based F-16BM banking after it performed a touch and go at its homebase on a beautiful summer afternoon.

I think everyone has a list from aircraft types and display teams that they hope to see at least once in their life for real.
For me, one of those teams was Patrouille Tranchant flying the Fouga Magister.

In 2023, I was finally able to tick this team off my wishlist when I saw them performing their graceful display during the Belgian Air Force Days that were held at Kleine Brogel.

To be honest, I have never been a big fan of helicopter demonstrations at airshows.

But I must admit that I have come to appreciate them more and more over the past few years.

One of the teams responsible for this is the Czech Air Force's Sokol demonstration team.

It is so impressive to see how they throw their helicopter around during their display, it is definitely one of the most energetic helicopter demonstrations on the European airshow circuit!
