Fotograaf en artiest Indy Vertommen maakt zijn debuut te Cinema Lumière Mechelen. Met zijn nieuwe solotentoonstelling "The Presence of Stillness"
Deze fotografische reeks verkent de kracht van vertraging. In een tijd waarin beweging en snelheid vanzelfsprekend zijn geworden, richt het werk zich op momenten van stilte en aandacht. Door stil te staan verandert onze manier van kijken. Subtiele verschuivingen van licht, ruimte en tijd worden zichtbaar en voelbaar. Elk beeld vormt een uitnodiging om te vertragen en aanwezig te zijn. Deze foto's functioneren niet als snelle observaties, maar als plaatsen van rust. In die verstilling ontstaat ruimte om het moment werkelijk te ervaren - en om de aanwezigheid van stilte te ontdekken.

“Photographer and artist Indy Vertommen makes his debut at Cinema Lumière Mechelen with his
new solo exhibition "The Presence of Stillness".
This photographic series explores the power of slowing down. In a time where movement and
speed have become the norm, the work focuses on moments of quiet and attention.
By pausing, our way of seeing begins to change. Subtle shifts of light, space and time become
visible and tangible. Each image invites the viewer to slow down and simply be present.
Rather than quick observations, these photographs function as spaces of calm. Within this
stillness, the viewer is invited to experience the moment itself — and to sense the presence of
silence.
