- Abandoned Thermal Bath -

Nestled in northern France, in a region experiencing a decline, this former spa hotel has been abandoned since its closure in 2020.

A bit of history: the Société des Thermes was founded in 1856 and was responsible for the construction and operation of the thermal baths and the associated hotel.

French Emperor Napoleon III stayed in the town around 1860. The hotel attracted a wealthy clientele from all over France thanks to the modernity of its treatments and facilities.

In 1932, under the direction of architect Robert Danis, a major renovation took place, and in 2001, the building was listed as a historical monument.

Since the cessation of spa activities in March 2020, significant work was carried out in 2022, but unfortunately, the establishment has never reopened. Probably because the region is experiencing a sharp decline in tourism.

- Abandoned Chapel -

The "chapelle de Vic" is nicknamed the Chapel of the Angel with the Violin, after a superb sculpture that adorns it.

Built in 1885 for Camille Don de Cépian, owner of the Vic estate, it is in the 15th-century Gothic style. The high Gothic vault is in ruins, and most of the stained-glass windows are empty, the panes having naturally detached over the decades. The large and beautiful stained-glass rose window, which overlooks the entrance, is remarkably well preserved.

Still privately owned, its roof was restored in 2016 to prevent further deterioration. Today the entire estate has been renovated and can be rented for private events.

- Abandoned Theater -

It was on our second attempt that we finally managed to get into this incredible theater. It remains one of the most beautiful abandoned places I've ever seen, both for its beauty and for the difficulty we had getting inside.

Nestled in a typical small town in northern Italy, this theater, built in the Art Nouveau style, dates back to the 19th century, specifically 1847, by the architect Giovanni Battista Gorresio.

In the 1930s, the theater could accommodate 350 spectators. It was then considered the largest and most prestigious theater in all of Piedmont (excluding provincial capitals).

The first renovation took place in 1887, followed by a second in 1933, during which the interior and decor were also modified.

The first signs of abandonment date back to 1957. Then, in 1978, following heavy snowfall, the roof collapsed, leaving the building to deteriorate further without any intervention from the municipality, which owned it. In 1995, the municipality classified it as a "safe site," but none of the proposed projects could be implemented due to a lack of funding.
Twenty-five years later, images of the now-ruined theater brought the issue back into the spotlight. This time, restoration plans truly began:

- 2020: Work to secure the structure began and lasted four years.
- 2024: The theater was opened to the public for exploration of the ruins and became one of the central venues for the FAI's Autumn Days.

The « Palazzo del Lavoro », formerly the « Palace of Nations » and now also known as « Palazzo Nervi », is a building located in the Nizza Millefonti district, on the southern edge of Turin.

It was designed by the engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, with the collaboration of architects Gio Ponti and Gino Covre, and completed in 1961. At its inauguration, it was a remarkable example of an exhibition center, both for its size and its technological innovation.

Over time, this massive building hosted trade fairs, international exhibitions, the offices of a United Nations agency, and, until 2008, it also housed a branch of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Turin.

Since then, its condition has deteriorated to the point that questions have been raised about its possible future use. Without a concrete plan, it is now in a state of advanced disrepair.

The Za Lužánkami Stadium in Brno, Czech Republic, was the home ground of FC Zbrojovka Brno, the local football team, and could hold up to 50,000 spectators.

Built between 1949 and 1953, it was the largest stadium in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s and 1970s. It closed in 2001 following Zbrojovka Brno's move to Městský fotbalový stadion Srbská, as the stadium did not meet the standards of the Czech Football Association and FIFA.

Plans to rebuild the stadium, allowing FC Zbrojovka Brno to return, were drawn up, but in June 2012, it was announced that, due to a lack of funding, the project was suspended.

The stadium fell into ruin, overgrown with vegetation... Long gone are the days of the 1997 match between Brno and Slavia Prague, which still holds the attendance record for the Czech first division.

Nestled in the heart of the Hungarian capital, this university amphitheater sits in the middle of a still-active faculty.

Unfortunately, this magnificent space has become too small for the growing number of students attending classes.

Abandoned for several decades, the effects of water and humidity have taken their toll. Sadly, it's too late to restore it. We could only save the four exterior walls.

Sad...

This magnificent palace is located in a small rural Portuguese town.

Inside, we discovered a profusion of frescoes, statues, and remnants of decay. The only inscription we found dates from 1926, but judging by the architecture and the frescoes, it is much older.

We believe it was restored in 1926 by a wealthy Portuguese wine-growing family.

After their bankruptcy, everything was left behind for decades.

There's not much to say about this village swimming pool.

This pool is located in the middle of a sports complex and was abandoned a few years ago following the construction of a much more fun and modern water park nearby.

In the early 1900s, following the example of a neighboring town, underground burial galleries, now inaccessible due to their dangerous condition, were built due to a lack of space in the cemetery of this large Belgian city.

They were dug into the hillside and comprised 540 cells, catering to exponential population growth and appealing economic factors such as their quick and inexpensive construction.

Since 1930, above-ground burial cells have gradually replaced them in the upper part of the cemetery, slowly leaving the crypts to fall into disrepair.

This palace is a perfect and spectacular example of the residences of Portuguese noble families.

Built in the second half of the 19th century, when Portugal was still a prosperous country, thanks to the influx of Brazilian gold into the capital, the building has a modest appearance from the outside, but an exceptional interior, especially in the central hall.

Owned by a wealthy and renowned professor of medicine, it became state property in the 1920s, only to be abandoned and fall into ruin in the 1980s.
