This Thursday, around 130 brave men and women will stand at the start of what can only be described as the race of a lifetime.
The Legends race is back.
What was already an almost absurd 280-something kilometers has now been extended to 350 km and 13,500 meters of elevation gain. Those are the official numbers. We all know they are more of a guideline than a guarantee.
I’ll once again be out there, trying to photograph familiar and unfamiliar faces alike.
Emphasis on trying…
A seemingly minor car accident in January turned into something less minor. Severe whiplash. A blocked neck. Headaches that don’t whisper but dominate.
I’m not fully back to my old self yet. So it’s very possible that my inner state this weekend will resemble these images: misty, foggy, slightly blurry.
But maybe that’s not entirely a bad thing.
As an ultratrail photographer, a bit of method acting comes with the job, right? If the runners are moving through brain fog, I might as well step straight into their mental space.
